The guy is averaging a shade over 4 solo tackles/game in a defense designed for MLBs to get double digit tackles. They are grossly misusing his talents, while leaving a glaring hole over the middle. And what is that defense exactly could you explain their scheme for us?

I didn't know this, I just assumed Edmunds must be way down on the list, or this guy wouldn't be saying Edmunds should be outside. He's 13th? Even with a bye? Wowwwww

But in the same way you don't want a pro-bowl QB from the 70s in todays NFL, you do not want a pro-bowl MLB from the 70s. Its a new NFL. Edmunds is elite at what MLBs need to do in todays NFL to be successful. Plus, Edmunds best plays are him flying through the hole to make the stop or him going sideline to sideline to stop the guy from getting to the outside. Prototypical MLB stuff. This is some selective memory on your part. How about comparing him to MLBs of the modern era, especially the guys taken in the same draft? Nobody is asking for Spikes 2.0. But it would be nice that the alleged defensive cog would 1) be able to shed a block once in a while and 2) know his gap responsibility. His first half was horrid. You can argue with me all you want, but you can't argue with game film and how the OCs know his weakness. Yesterday' game confirmed that Milano is the MVP of this defense, and Edmunds is nowhere near close to fulfilling his draft capital. 2 minutes ago, Joe in Winslow said: Bear in mind, this is a guy who claims Barkley could run the offense better. GunnerBill Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 I have been as big of an advocate of Edmunds and his improvement year 1 to year 2 as anyone but he was brutal last night. He was constantly in the wrong gap in the run game and he got confused and lost on the Parker touchdown too - wasn't his initial assignment but if he makes the right read he can get over there and make the play. I spoke about it last night too but that was as bad as the way the Patriots totally confused him last season. They gave him looks that suggested one thing and then ran another. Interestingly where did the Dolphins OC come from? The Patriots. And this year against New England Edmunds was excellent. So maybe the guy who had the plan to expose him is the guy that left for Miami. The Dolphins went at Wallace and Edmunds so often that I do not believe it could have been coincidence. That was game plan. 1

SoCal Deek Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 I’m still of the belief that he’s not heavy enough to play a traditional MLB role. That’s not his fault. He’s tall and athletic. I’m going to assume that the coaches know that! I’m interested to see what they do with that knowledge. He’s clearly never going to be Dick Butkus. 1

You argued this defense is designed for MLB's to make tackles....that happened last year. It counts to a degree, but for his position you also want to see solo tackles, where he was #20 in the league last year. What's worse is that the OCs know his weaknesses by now and are directly attacking him and that's why his stats are noticeably down. Four solo tackles per game is awful, considering how many times opponents have run the ball.
