Right- he has the best analytics guy in the game. It’s a BB answer of the highest degree to say analytics arent really used there.

no you are getting it... actually who could possibly know besides the 3 other people with whom he honestly opens up

One of the great in game decisions of all time letting the clock run on Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson before the Malcolm Butler interception.

Agreed. I said it at the time. He just spooked them and made them out think themselves. He realised at that point his only way of winning was forcing a mistake from the Seahawks so he gave them enough rope and.... well the rest is history.

Not so. If something happens to line up with what analytics say, that doesn't mean you are using analytics. It means that your decision happened to align with the analytics.

People can make happy mistakes all the time.

Analytics is not referring to being analytical. It refers to statistical analysis.

There is a reason why he goes against common trends in the NFL.  Whether it's his defenses, his offenses, him and his staff know the win/loss rate of sub packages vs defenses.  Call it what you want.  When you look at the metric NE is always around the top of the league it's not a coincidence.

Bull puckey, the guy uses everything, legal or otherwise.

If you read the article he doesn’t use them to decide when to go for two as opposed to the PAT. He admittedly uses them for scouting, contracts, and tech. Click

far superior to Andy Reid looking at that chart in his hand as if it's suddenly been translated to Swahili or Mandarin.

Weird.  I could of sworn I read an article last year talking about how awesome the Pats analytics department is.

The Pats, as an organization, use them. Belichick just says that he does not use them, as a coach.

they find a loophole in the rulebook that destroys the opposition

Leading up to games, sure, but BB said he doesn't make decisions in the game based on analytics.

Sometimes analytics just align with common sense. How many times have Bills fans shaken their heads when our coaches have made bad decisions in the past 20 years? Are fans experts at analytics, or was the decision just obvious and analytics happened to agree?

like everything else number-driven,

analytics solve all problems,

or they would have if you had only listened to them, they gave you 60 game plans and one with perfect hindsight turned out to be the right one

see how easy this is?

that's a huge lie.  ernie adams is widely considered the pats guy with that.  but they've never said what he actually does.  the pats have been ahead of everyone with how their offense is used with the quick throws and screens and getting away from the run game.

Sort've yes, but last year they led the league in rushing.

Belichick can adapt, and knows teams have been loading up on their nickel, big nickel, and dime packages to counter their short throws....so his solution was to scheme ways to get his RB to the 2nd level where it is Sony with a head of steam vs DB's and Safeties. It is a mismatch he exploited quite a bit.
