Campy Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 I can't say I'm opposed to extending DST, but I'd be pretty curious to see what else is getting lumped into that energy legislation.

Alaska Darin Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 I'm against it. Think of all the fugly people who are counting on darkness to assist them in their quest for love.

Alaska Darin Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 There'd still be alcohol, it's always worked in the past... 298641 Alcohol is no match for sunlight. Think about it.
aussiew Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Gotta agree with AD on this one - sunlight is the ultimate exposer.
Dan Gross Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Gotta agree with AD on this one - sunlight is the ultimate exposer. 298696 Coming from someone who only dates blind guys...(though I don't understand why...)
John Adams Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 "The more daylight we have, the less electricity we use," said Markey, who cited Transportation Department estimates that showed the two-month extension would save the equivalent of 10,000 barrels of oil a day. Congress figured out how to give us more daylight?!?! Please, clue me in.
Campy Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Congress figured out how to give us more daylight?!?! Please, clue me in. 298719 I did a little searching and found that they shot down an ammendment to reduce America's oil consumption because 40% of our oil is used in vehicles and we couldn't possibly expect to burden Detroit with meeting improved mileage standards.
blzrul Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Congress figured out how to give us more daylight?!?! Please, clue me in. 298719 The funny thing about that is in states where it gets hotter sooner, and stays hotter longer, it could mean you run the AC more.
Campy Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 The funny thing about that is in states where it gets hotter sooner, and stays hotter longer, it could mean you run the AC more. 299350 I dunno 'bout that. Here in Va Bch it's not uncommon for summertime temps to remain in the 80s all night and the AC will run regardless of what time the clock on the wall shows. When it's hot, it's hot.

nobody Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Congress figured out how to give us more daylight?!?! Please, clue me in. 298719 They have these giant mirrors they put in space which catch the suns rays and reflect them towards areas that are dark. Haven't you seen James Bond?
nobody Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Alcohol is no match for sunlight. Think about it. 298645 Isn't that why seedy bars are always dark?
Campy Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Isn't that why seedy bars are always dark? 299874 I thought it was to make it harder to see the roaches crawling around.
Alaska Darin Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 I thought it was to make it harder to see the roaches crawling around. 299881 It's not nice to refer to bar hags as roaches. You're better than that.
