The only reason why I would switch it is because the “12th man” is a patented Texas A&M saying and we have to negotiate the rights to it and how it’s used.

This Is why you never see Bills 12th man gear ever being created or them using it on social media etc because they aren’t allowed to. They also will not be allowed to put the 12th man on the walls of any new stadium unless it’s renegotiated.

I like  the Bills Mafia and it is progressive, but for the sake of preserving tradition, the 12th Man must remain. It represents a historical  voice to the countless and faceless fans who have been there from the beginning.

I voted to change it to Bills Mafia.  But I live in NYS and vote Republican... so throwing away a vote is nothing new to me.  ?

No such change is possible.  Andy and Fredo would nix it.

It’s actually an interesting thought and I voted yes. 12th man isn’t us!! Texas A&M owns it (I think) and the Seahawks are the NFL team that everyone identifies with it. It’s like the Bills trying to pretend that, “Trust the Process” is a Bills thing. It isn’t. The whole Bills Mafia thing is us and only us. It’s an all-encompassing term to encapsulate the way that we rally together, good and bad. I ALWAYS prefer things that are ours not things that we took from someone else.

Right on Kirb, i agree totally

During the Super Bowl years, the 12th Man was a real thing, just like Bills Mafia is now. No, we didn't come up with it first, but it meant something and the fans and team embraced it and made it our own. So, I would hate to see that go.

Having said that, I do like the whole Bills Mafia thing now, though my grandfather is probably rolling over in his grave hearing me say that. He hated that the only time Italians were portrayed on TV and in the movies in his day were as mafia members (criminals), which gave a bad name to all of the good, hard working Italian people in our country. But I just take it in the aspect of being a family, protecting your own, defending your turf, etc. And I like that it gives us something to rally around and that it gives the national media and fans of other teams something to latch onto as far as knowing and respecting how die-hard we are as fans (despite the drunken debauchery that it also represents to some).

But, I still wouldn't put it on the Wall. I don't want to change the 12th man and it's not really PC. Not that I care about being PC (that whole thing has become so overblown), I just think in this day and age the team kind of has to be PC.

The national media citing the Bills Mafia label is more embarrassing than losing 4 straight SB's, O.J. and 17 seasons of missing the playoffs combined.

It wreaks of a fan base desperate and insecure by those who seek to be identified as such imo.

Lighten up, Francis.

Bills Mafia is F'ing LAME. Been watching the team since 83 and don't need it.

It's was a damn hashtag many years ago from a dude (and friends)  that I grew up with for 15years, 4 houses away on my street that I know well.

The whole “12th man” thing isn’t Bills. I just hate things that we stole (hence my issues with “process”). The “Bills Mafia” thing at least belongs to us. It is unique to us. If we want to recognize the fan base I’d rather recognize Bills fans than “generic football fan base.” That’s what 12th man is. It is every team’s fans. I like the idea of us vs. everyone else. Whether you like Bills Mafia or not it isn’t something that we are sharing.

I agree with you on the 12th man but my solution is to get rid of both.  12th man isn't original to Buffalo and Bills Mafia while belonging to us does not represent the vast majority of us.  I really don't want to be lumped in with drunk fans jumping on top of burning tables.  You can argue that extreme example does not represent all of Bills Mafia but it is what the nation thinks.  No thanks.  Get rid of both.  I've been a been since 1979 and I don't need recognition on the wall.  Just put the players on the wall.

No, I was a 12th man. Not so much Bills Mafia. What exactly is the Bills Mafia's claim to fame other than being drunk, smashing tables and a train horn?
