The Giants aren’t doing it for this year.  They are going nowhere in 2019, with or without Eli, so get Jones some experience and maybe deal Eli for a draft pick...it’s the right move.

I  can understand line of thought, but this also has the potential to wreck a rookie.

It doesn't matter to me either way, really. Eli will forever have a place in my home for creating "18 and d'oh!"

Plenty of opportunities around the league as a starter. The biggest issue will be the cap hit the new team will take. Else, he will have a littany of choices this year itself.

I don't really see any opportunities as a starter tbh, unless, again, a team like Pittsburgh decides they don't have that much faith in Rudolph after all. The only one that seems like a realistic opportunity to be a starter is the Jets and even that would only last a few weeks.

Edit: Maybe Carolina if the Cam Newton injury is serious.

If playing in actual games can potentially ruin him, then Jones sucks to begin with.

I get why fans don't understand this truth, but I'm baffled by head coaches who don't get it. Youth may help Jones escape and throw a little better than Eli right now, but if anyone things this changes their trajectory for the foreseeable future is kidding themselves. The team has problems beyond the QB position.

There is a school of thought that game experience helps a young QB develop more than holding a clip board.  Clip board holding proponents think it is a fact not an opinion that holding a clipboard is always better.  But some coaches think differently.

A lot of people think Eli is going to the HOF.  His time is done, no big deal.

Eli won two SB under center. He's first ballot. No question.

We've beaten 2 pretty lousy teams so far.  I can't wait to play a good team now so we can see just what we have.

We'll know in two weeks, though I think Cincy can be a problem this week. The biggest edge for the Bills this week, in my mind, is playing their home opener after starting the season 2-0 on the road. (Interesting side note: John Brown was interviewed on Sirius NFL this morning, and he commented he's yet to play in Buffalo but heard the fans can be pretty loud. )

One thing that is actually pretty cool is that players constantly speak of the fan presence and overall experience playing in WNY.  Like the players around the league recognize that it is something special relative to the league as a whole.  There will be several guys experiencing that for the first time!

Andy Dalton will be, by far, the best QB we have played so far this year.  And I think the home game actually adds pressure to the Bills; it hurts more than helps, so we will see how it goes.  Still a very winnable game.

As you say, we will definitely know the score after Week 4, if not after Week 3.

I appreciate the broad generalization, but many people smarter than you and me know some quarterbacks need to spend time behind a vet for a while since there is more to playing the game than just throwing a ball. Neither of us knows for certain if Jones is one of those guys, but we're about to find out.

Another cool thing is hearing the players stick to the script. While Brown will never lead anyone with his limited vocabulary of "you know...like...you know...", he was saying the right things: turn the page on 2-0, one game at a time, its not me-me...we're all out to make each other better," etc.

When I start beating my chest about predictions, yeah, then it's time to quit.

I don't see you doing any mea culpas when you're wrong though.  Sad.

You think I'm "beating my chest?"  That's funny.  By the way, this board is about having FUN, which is a concept I don't think you're too familiar with judging by the typical tone of your comments and interaction.  You're welcome to put me on ignore, by the way.

Quit beating that chest Antonio.

I feel bad for the kid.

With no receivers to throw to and a mediocre O-line protecting him, he's set up to fail as so many other first round QBs have...

Here is a scenario:

Brady goes down in the next 6 weeks before the trade deadline. Pats are still on a roll. They give up a 5th to NYG for Eli because of cap space. Eli goes 6-2 down the stretch, Pats win the division with a bye in the playoffs. Everybody is furious. Eli keeps playing lights out. Pats are in the SB. Eli shows up, plays OK, before an untimely sack fumble with a minute left in the game, that blows the Patriots lead. Pats lose, and Eli Manning personally delivers BB his 3rd SB loss.

2 more weeks and he'll have his WRs at full strength.  Some of the Giants WRs didn't look that bad on Sunday & their top 2 didn't play.  They have a decent O-line , I don't know where you got your idea on their line from-maybe last year, one of if not the best RB in the league to decrease pressure, a star at TE etc.  If anything, as far as starting him for the rest of the season he's set up to succeed far better than most rookie QBs.   The  Giants offense is way ahead of their defense.

No way he gets traded to backup someone and no way he gets traded to a team to fill in for a few weeks

Both Jets and Saints have their starters coming back in a few weeks, they won't waste picks to get Eli for a couple weeks.

Colts & Steelers both have young guys who could be their futures with Brissett and Rudolph, only way they trade for him is if they don't believe in those guys to lead them. Jacksonville is a possibility because they don't have much experience in that position now and they did try to upgrade the position going into the season but then lost him right away. Coughlin knows him well and could try to bring him in to get an experienced veteran starter to save their season.

There’s no going back. You have to commit to Jones for better or worse.

When the Giants benched Warner to go with Eli and then wanted to switch back to Warner, Kurt told them that they needed to stay with the rookie.  I wonder will Eli do the same for Jones.

Eli Manning to the Jets! (just me speculating)

Does he get the same locker room cubicle / stall?  Or do the Giants and Jests each have their own locker rooms?  It is New York City...oh, wait...

Jones isn't built like an oak tree, won't run for 600+ yards and doesn't have a #2 defense to help him out.

Other than that, same situation...

I meant the NO OL and NO WRs.
