 R.I.P.  I want to say they just finally made the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  

 

The Cars were a good group.  Their music was fun

He must have been 35 or so when the Cars hit the big time.  I didn’t realize he was that old. RIP.

Their 1st album was their best. Saw them open for Bob Seger, 3rd row center, in '77 or '78.

 

Never would have guessed he was born in '49

 

Marrying Paulina Porizkova might be his biggest badge of honor.

For me The Cars and Ric Ocasek epitomized New Wave. The first two albums sound as good today as they ever did.

RIP. I always thought The Cars were the poor man's Roxy Music. I did like the 1st LP a lot when it came out though, as well as most all of the hits. especially the ones with Benjamin Orr on lead vocals. Still, when I think of The Cars, he is the first image that comes to mind.
