But I have really been happy with Knox and Sweeney overall, and Lee Smith has a distinct purpose, plus he made a terrific little catch today. The TE play versus the last couple dozen years has been good already. Our receiving unit is solid to good. Last year it was putrid. What makes it difficult for the defensive coverage is that the ball is being spread around. You have to be impressed how well Josh is making those short and intermediate routes. He still has to work on his touch but he has made a dramatic improvement from last year. Some of his throws when he was being chased were exquisite. 1
MJS Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 Punter has been solid. I've been pleasantly surprised. Hope he can keep it up.
Big C Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 Bojo is PFF's punter of the week, for whatever that's worth: https://www.pff.com/news/pro-pffs-nfl-team-of-the-week-2019-nfl-week-2
MDH Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 Shaq had another good game. He's not getting the stats but he's actually pushing the pocket on a pretty consistent basis when he's out there. Add in his usually fine play against the run and he seems to have turned a corner this year. 2

Against the run they were doing a good job at filling gaps (outside of the first drive) and against the pass they are collapsing the pocket. No longer are we seeing the edge rushers look like they might get home only to have the QB step up in the pocket and sit there for an extra 2 seconds. They may not be blowing up the line every play, but they're consistently getting a good push. The D-line as a whole isn't really spectacular, but they play very well as a unit and compliment the secondary very well. 1
