I agree, whenever Gore tried to juke it looked like he was going to fall down. He will serve his purpose here if he is used in short yardage and goal line situations. If he is our starter we are in Trouble.

Lets not kid ourselves.  At his age Frank is a small upgrade over a Tolbert type.  Better call Murphy.

You honestly don’t think he pulled his hamstring? Or you just messing around?

You really didn't go with horsing around?  It was right there for you!!!

Gore is a averaging 2.8 YPC and still was only at 3.6 this Sunday.

Gore had a better week, but still wasn’t the kind of week where I would feel comfortable leaning on him as a lead back for any period of time.

Singletary injury has me quite concerned.

I don't think we can go by Gore's YPC to judge his effectiveness.  He is here simply to get the tough yards.  He will be in at the goal line, 3rd and 1, 4th and 1 etc.  The defense will likely know it is a run play and it will be up to Gore to get that yard or 2.  For that role I love him.

hes been our starter for the first two weeks and we are 2-0....128 yards rushing for the team in week 1, and 151 yards rushing for the team in week 2, good for top 10 in the league in rushing

Except that’s not how he’s been used.  He’s been used like any other RB, not just tough short situations.  He had 19 carries on Sunday and yet we had very few down and short scenarios.

I get get what you are saying, but that is just not accurate on how he’s been used or why his ypc is bad to start the year.

actually, 2 of his runs were on downs with 1 yard to go for a first down (he converted both), and three were goal line runs (one ended up being a TD). So, 5 of his 19 carries were in short yardage situations.

But that is true with all primary running backs.  I said he was not used as a short yardage specialist like previously claimed.

All RBs get goal line carries and 3rd and 1 carries and still average over 4 ypc...he’s averaging 2.8 ypc despite the vast majority of his carries not being short yardage situations.

Gore has been used as a RB this season, not someone who only carries is short situations.  His YPC has been low because he’s not been all that effective.

Bottom line is I am glad he is here as a mentor and locker room leader, but as much as like Gore, the honest truth is he has not been very effective and it would be scary to have to lean on him based on what we have seen so far.  Doesn’t mean he can’t get it going, but thus far he’s been bad week 1 and mediocre week 2.

Meanwhile Singletary has been sensational in his limited touches the first 2 weeks...which is why for me the Singletary injury scares me as hammy injuries can be problematic and lingering.   Hopefully it’s no big deal though.

Agreed. We definitely need him back in there as soon as he can go. He provides a great spark on offense. This kid really reminds me of Fred Jackson the way he is able to find the holes available and makes the most out of every run. Also love the way he can break tackles.

I must admit I was "meh" when he was drafted. However this kid has really, really impressed me.

Well, he ran for 3.6 ypc vs the Giants, and the Jets front 7 is a very tough run D. Bear in mind that Gore was getting all of the carries when Mosley was in there. Factor in context. Gore has also gotten all of the carries late in games when the D knew he was getting it because the Bills were grinding clock. I think seven of his 30 carries fall under that last category. Also, there's the small sample size issue. Ypc from game to game is spiky.

Of course, I want Singletary to eventually become the lead back.

Gore was excellent yesterday. Very glad to have him. The sideline view of him bulldozing the Giant linebacker back into the endzone was awesome.

I hear ya, but I just don’t think Gore has looked like a RB we can lean on for 20 carries a game.  All I was saying is that Gore was used in the same capacity any other lead RB will be used thus far and is averaging 2.8 ypc.  Even this week it was still 3.6 against a bad rush defense.  He’s not being used as a short yardage specialist, those short carries represent a normal ratio of his carries like any RB would have.

But hopefully he either gets going or Motor’s hammy isn’t too serious.  Still like Gore, so hopefully he finds more of a groove this week against Cincy.

Gore also has been used at the end (or near end) of both games running into the guts of the D to burn timeouts and eat the clock.

This also lowers his overall YPA.  Gore has not been spectacular but he is doing a good job so far this year.

Devin will get more and more carries as the year goes on.

That LB he hit was a rookie. Probably going to hear crap in the film room for weeks.
