US Egg Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 My, how things have progressed. Every team will have their own playground. 1
Nextmanup Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Good! Now let's work on eliminating artificial turf, at least in outdoor stadiums. 1

The new turfs are pretty similar to real grass and nothing like the carpeted cement they used to have back in the 80s and 90s

17years&waiting Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 I'm not a huge fan of the move towards indoor stadiums that resemble shopping malls more than football stadiums. Having said that, I've always hated the infield look at the baseball/football stadiums. Particularly when playing Miami on grass for years and years. I won't miss this at all.
MJS Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Thank goodness. Such a bad look to have teams worth billions playing on dirt.

Mark Vader Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Great! The last of the dual sports stadiums is coming to an end.
Bob in STL Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 I grew up watching the old AFL in the mid-60’s and most of the stadiums were dual purpose. A “football only” stadium is the only way to go. Prefer outdoors and grass when practical.
EasternOHBillsFan Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Watching football for decades, and I am in full agreement... no more baseball/football combo fields. In addition in it being ugly and creating an uneven playing surface, it places the modern athlete in even more of a position to get a serious injury.
KD in CA Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Boo!!!! I love the baseball field in Oakland; I've been watching football games on that field for 45 years. Come on A's!! Let's keep baseball season going!!

The A's are in a wildcard spot right now so how will this be the last game played with a dirt infield? 1

Injury rates for PCL tears were significantly increased during competitions played on artificial turf as compared with natural grass. Lower NCAA divisions (II and III) also showed higher rates of ACL injuries during competitions on artificial turf versus natural grass. theres more: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30452873 1
BigDingus Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 I think people are not giving fair credit to Gore with what he's done, just because we're all excited to see more of Singletary. Gore showed why he's still a valuable player in this league today.
