Bills Fan in MD Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Has anyone ever sat in the family section at the stadium? I haven't been to a game in years, but want to take my 10 year old daughter this year. She's not sheltered, so I have no problem with typical stadium behavior, just so long as it's not totally over the top. We're also traveling from DC and I want to show her what it means to be part of a truly passionate fan base, so I also don't want to sit somewhere without a lot of energy. Any suggestions?
Beast Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 (edited) 300 sections.....somewhere in the corners. Nicest people you will ever meet. ? Edited September 12, 2019 by Binghamton Beast 2
4_kidd_4 Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 You should be fine pretty much anywhere. Security is much improved over the last 10 years or so, and there’s a lot of “self-policing” in the stands. Most people will respect a kid’s space, and won’t care if she stands on her seat, etc. Odds are better of a ‘safer’ time in the 100’s, but that kinda correlates with ticket prices. I’d say definitely get here for a Sept/Oct game, those tix prices bottom out by December and it attracts a certain type of crowd.
Chicharito Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 I mistakenly bought tickets in the family section before and it was nice . No falling over drunks and punk ass Canadians wearing opposing teams jerseys trying to get beat up. I guess you can say it’s nice to look down on the other sections and laugh. Tailgating is the real show anyway! 1 1

The Tomcat Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 (edited) LOL...I mistakenly bought tickets to a game in the Family Section (scalping days). Bought a beer on way in not knowing it and was with my 10 year old son at the time....got stopped and told sir you can't bring that beer in this section its the family section. I had to basically chug my beer as I wasn't going to throw it out. I looked at my son and said....Life lesson son. Edited September 12, 2019 by The Tomcat 1 3

msw2112 Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Does anyone know if they have "family bathrooms" in the family section? I want to take my 6 year old daughter to the game. It might just be the two of us. I would rather not go to the game than bring her into the men's rooms that I have used in the stadium and I cannot go into the women's bathroom. Frankly, I wouldn't send her into the women's bathroom alone either, as it's just such a mass of people, and many drunk ones. Perhaps I'm just an overprotective dad, but I can't make it 4 quarters without using the restroom and anyone with a younger child knows that they always need to. I would also like to have a few pre-game at a tailgate, which guarantees a need to use the facilities.
plenzmd1 Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 never sat there, never felt the need. One thing that you just have to be aware of is the language will happen. People will try and respect that a kid is around for the most part, but big turnover, controversial PI on a big play etc...some F bombs just gunna happen! If it is non stop, most people will text secutiry they will warn the dude and then take measures if needed. Started taking my kids when oldest was 7, youngest was 5. Early teens daughter saw a girl not quite get to the port potty in the ECC lot before she began puking, but good life lesson for a 13 year old to see a 20 old puking in her own hair! She still laughs about the only fight she saw was two women at the beer line at halftime with a minute to go to kickoff and fighting over place in line( when they shut beers down at halftime, now its 3rd) 5 minutes ago, msw2112 said: Does anyone know if they have "family bathrooms" in the family section? anguskeenan Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 You still get all of the noise and feel for the crowd, there are just no jerks/drunks. I took my kids to the cardinals game week three I think a couple years back and we had a blast there. Only note is that the game we went to, the weather was really nice out (sunny) but those sections are completed shaded, so my 5 year old daughter at the time got too cold.. just something to consider if it is a sunny day - it might not be as warm in those seats as it would be on the opposite side of the field. 1
JESSEFEFFER Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 No alcohol allowed in the family section makes for a different game experience. My mother and aunt really enjoyed their seats in section 227. That's corner endzone Bills side, tunnel end, club level. This section is in the shade which mattered last year as it was in the high 80's and sunny when they played the Chargers (rare conditions, I know.) On the opposite side of the stadium the seats were more empty because it was too uncomfortable. My Aunt has a bad knee and she could not have sat in any section that has continuous standing during the game.

Tailgating is the real show anyway! During the Kelly era there were fans that were certifiably crazy! It wasnt just the game doing it to them...they brought that with them...scary!

Your'e link to the guide proved that to be correct.

I don't know about the family seating, but unless you are going to put her in a bubble the moment you park and head for the stadium, she's going to be exposed to all manner of low life behavior regardless. So I'm not sure the value of sitting in the family section, assuming it is somehow sheltered from drunken nobodies.
Section27 Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 I have had family section tickets for years. I have gone to Bills games since 1963. It is a good experience in the family section. No drinks spilled on us, no vomiting, no fights. While I am older, and have back and hip pain, I still like to go to games. I can make use of the seats I paid for and actually sit for most of the game in the FS. I have found I cannot SIT in the sidelines seats, as I cannot stand the whole game. No distractions, I can watch and enjoy the game.
haroldwaide Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 I've been in the family section for years. Nothing too over the top for the most part. Great atmosphere in 226 and great comraderie. You won't be disappointed.

No offense, but if I had a six year old daughter I’d rather she ***** her pants than go into the men’s room at that stadium. Take a woman with you. Even if it’s an ugly broad. She can escort your little girl into the women’s room. Edited September 13, 2019 by Binghamton Beast
Mango Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 (edited) Family section is quite and well behaved for sure. I wouldn’t worry about your daughter. Fun story headline, with little actual substance. years ago I got booted from the family section. I got tickets free from a family friend. A girl I was dating at the time was a section over. Met her in the concourse for a beer at half time. Hung out at her seat until the rightful owners came back before kickoff. Brought the beer back to my seat not really thinking. Took a sip. Escorted out within 45 seconds. It was incredibly quick. I’m surprised they didn’t just take the beer, rather than directly escort me to a gate. There was no misbehavior. I have a friend in Erie County SWAT. He basically said the entire stadium is under constant video surveillance and they keep an incredibly close eye on the family section. He wasn’t surprised, standard protocol. Bills got absolutely worked by the Pats. So I didn’t miss much. Edited September 13, 2019 by Mango
wagon127 Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 (edited) I had no problem sitting in the family section, until i realized its a no standing zone. I respect that its for young kids to be able to see, its just not widely advertised. Having said that, the only times ive seen the bills beat the patriots live, was while sitting in that section. Once in 1999 when i was 13, and again in 2011! Edited September 13, 2019 by wagon127 1
auburnbillsbacker Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 It is more likely than not that you and your daughter will have a good experience. It's not a lock however. Myself, like others, have been to over 100 games. Sometimes you cant avoid trouble. People chugging beers outside of the family section while sitting in it is not uncommon. Security will usually be helpful but sometimes they do very little. I think you have a 90% chance of having a great time.
