I went to Rivers Casino in Schenectady today. I bet a total of 14 units spread out over 4 scenarios:

Bet 4 units on Over 6.5 wins.  This is the lowest odds of bet 2 units to win another unit (Odds 1/2).  Pays 6 units

Bet 4 units on Over 7.5 wins. Even money bet 1 unit to win another unit (Odds 1/1).  Pays 8 units

Bet 4 units on Over 8.5 wins.  Bet 1 unit to win another 2 units (Odds 2/1).  Pays 12 units

Bet 2 units on Bills making the playoffs.  Bet 1 unit to win another 3.25 units. Pays 8.5 units.   EDIT: The original said 3.5 when it should be 3.25

Basically, the break even point is 8 wins & no playoffs.  9 wins produces a 12 unit profit & 9 or more wins & the playoffs produces a 20.5 unit profit.

How does that translate to cash?

I am not a gambler and have no idea what a unit represents in this context.

Think of them as dollars.  Say I bet $10 per unit, bet 1 would be $40 to get back $60, Bet 2 would be $40 to get back $80, Bet 3 would be $40 to get back $120, Bet 4 would be $20 to get back $85.  Total bet $140, total returns: at 6 or fewer wins, pays 0 lose $140, at 7 wins pays $60 lose $80; at 8 wins break even  pays $140; at 9 wins pays $260, profit of $120; win 9 or more and make playoffs pays $345, profit of $205.

Seriously only 3.5 to 1 of the Bills making the playoffs?  Would have expected significantly higher than that.

They're only 7.5-1 to win the division per what I found on the internet, a little less than half that to at least get a wild card is reasonable.  I wrote 3.5 when it's really 3.25-1.  I expect a 10 win season & playoffs, my break even point is 2 wins fewer than my expectations:

NFL - AFC DIVISIONS - TO WIN - SEP 10

AFC EAST DIVISION - TO WIN

Wow, I got much better odds:

  • Bills to win over 6.5 games at -133 odds, Risking $6987 to win $5,269 (bets placed at different New Jersey bookies)
  • Bills to win the AFC East division at +1200 odds, Risking $1,000 to win $12,000 (William Hill online)
  • Bills to win the AFC Championship at +6600 odds, Risking $500 to win $33,000 (William Hill online)
  • Bills to make the playoffs at +400 odds, Risking $98 to win $392 (Bet365 online)

Good luck to all of you who have faith in this 2019 Buffalo team!!

Are you kidding? That's probably the bet where I got the best odds a few months ago. They have moved quite a bit since then.

For example, Pinnacle has the over at -195 and the under at +162. Bet365 has over -165 under +135. I could go on and on with other examples. I don't think I've seen a single bookie that still has odds as good as -133!!

I mean I'm comfortable they're a 7win minimum team but at less than even money I'm not giving up half game over last season win total, that's just me personally tho.

To complicated....bet the games etc and the AFC and Superbowl championship if you want to gamble.  I put cash on the Bills against the Jets and took the 3 points in Vegas in June.  Sports books have opened in NYS in the mean time.  I was at Del Lago just east of Rochester for lunch on August 23, and they had just opened their sports book that day  (first in NYS I was told)  I checked the line on the opener, and it was .....3 points.   So, sports betting is here folks, I don't know if any of the Buffalo area casino's are putting one in however.  From my house in Niagara County  its 105 miles to Del Lago.....to far to go.....imho.  (I also  took the Bills to win the AFC at 36:1, a true fan/fools's bet)

Question for you: I’ve been thinking of placing a Bills Super Bowl bet this year. Are you able to make that bet at Rivers? If so, do you know what odds they put on it at Rivers? I tried researching the bets New York State allows you to make and I didn’t see the basic Super Bowl bet listed.

I'm pretty sure they have Super Bowl bets since I was able to get a future on the Bills making the playoffs, but I never looked for the Super Bowl.  If you're there it's easier using the kiosks, they have someone there to help you.  Their phone # is on my tickets, if you have any questions you can call them at 518-579-8800, but don't be shocked if they don't know the answer.  I went to the window 1st, the teller didn't know about futures, then her supervisor told me to check the kiosk, the kiosk guide knew where to get to the futures & I bet it there.  Also since the odds for the Bills are around 80/1 to 100/1 from what I've seen online, if you're betting enough to bring the potential winnings to over $10,000 I'd advise breaking them into smaller tickets since on the back of my tickets it says you need ID if the payment is over $10,000.

I made 3 Bills bets last week. I bet over 7 wins for $500 (-135). Bills to win the AFC East for $30 (+800) and Bills to win the AFC for $10 (+3500).

I also have Texans to win AFC South (+220), Cowboys to win NFC (+750), 49ers under 8.5 wins (-135), Colts under 7.5 wins (-120), Broncos under 7 wins (-110), Brees to win yardage title (+750), Evans to win receiving title (+1400) and Carson to win the rushing title (+2800).

I feel pretty good about the Bills, Texans and 49ers bets. I bet twice as much on the Colts as the 49ers and am kind of kicking myself for that.

Sounds good...think I might head there Thursday to place my bets.
