Now that the backfield is set, who do you think will have the most rushing/receiving yards combined?

I got Singletary. He's younger, quicker, and I think he will be used more in the passing game. I think Gore will lead the RB's in rushing though.

Singletary: feature back (most yards)

Yeldon: 3rd down and change-of-pace back

Gore: short-yardage situations

I was listening to some fantasy football guy yesterday on the NFL station. He was quoting OL ratings etc., basically said McCoy's stats sucked. Singletary's are worth picking him up for FFL. Said our OL stats are pretty good.

I think that it’s Singletary and not even close. This is his job now. Gore and Yeldon will see some action but Singletary will get 70% of the touches imo.

I don't think he gets 70%. That could be 15 to 20 carries and several passing targets.  I think people underestimate Yeldon,Gore and the "committee" approach. But,what do I know ? I miss Marcus Murphy!

I agree on the underestimation of Yeldon and Gore.

Can a 5'7 lb. RB handle 20 carries/receptions a game and survive a whole season? I'm very high on Singletary, but think 15 per game this year would be his (generous) ceiling. By comparison of another smallish RB with a similar skill set, Phillip Lindsay averaged 14 carries/receptions a game last year. I'd be thrilled if Singletary had 75% of his Lindsay's production.

I don't think they get rid of McCoy if they didn't think Singletary was ready to be the man.

Singletary.

100% think cutting Shady was because they realized they need to find touches for this guy.

This is where I’m at. They didn’t get rid of Shady to find touches for Gore and Yeldon. They will both be used but this decision is about Singletary. It’s his job now.

I went with Gore.

I loved the Singletary pick and I'm very pleased with the backfield as it stands today.

Although long in the tooth, Gore has shown no signs of slowing down.  I think he'll be the primary back and, hopefully, we see the torch being gradually passed to Singletary.

I do think Singletary gets a significant number of touches and I think the overall yards from scrimmage between him and Gore will be close.  I just think Gore will lead the way.

Regardless, it's an awesome 1-2 punch, IMO.

This is mostly right but I'm not sure it's is exactly right.

Gore used to be an every down back, not just  a short yardage specialist.  I think - even at his age - he still has ability to gain yards in whatever situation.

Singletary is small.  I worry about his ability to take the beating of a typical feature ("bell cow") back.  I also worry about his efficiency at picking up blitzes and and pass pro in general.

I think Singletary may indeed have more yards by the end of the season but Gore is going to get entire series sometimes.  He'll get his fair share of touches.

Respectfully, i don't think most of you understand Gore's game.  He is NOT a short yardage specialist.  He's too small to move piles.  He finds creases in the OL and dives through them.  In short yardage situations, the gaps are too tight for Gore to maneuver.  He needs more space and is often most effective in first and long or second and 5-6.

I dont see it this way, at least not this year.  Gore will start, Yeldon will get some as the third guy, Singletary will get lots of touches but no where near 70%.  He likely will need to develop blocking skills.
