njbuff Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 I guess there are a lot of people in here that don't understand that McCoy simply IS NOT a fit in Daboll's offense. Really nothing surprising about Shady being cut. 1

They're kinda in dire need of a rb. Loved shadys time here, sorry to see him go out unceremoniously, but hope he lands somewhere #FireBeane 1

Does Duke Williams add something to the WR corps as a big body, he sure does. He caught two red zone TDs against 3rd stringers and everyone gets super excited like he’s gonna start doing it against Richard Sherman. He’s a big slow WR. He may or may not be a PS candidate but we are basically trying to run the Patriots offense so the necessity for one isn’t super large. McCoy does have something left in the tank, but he’s not what he used to be. He wasn’t going to be back in 2020 so they saved his money and gave Devin Singletary his spot to see if he can be the full time guy, and will keep Gore to mentor him, Yeldon as the 3rd guy, and possibly Perry for his STs. You nailed it. I was getting beat up all week saying he was too slow to play WR and should be dominating the 3rd & 4th string guys he was playing. A switch to TE might do him good. 2

RobbRiddick Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 It shows how much stronger our team is this year on paper that we can cut McCoy. He's still a capable player who would have easily made the team if it had the same makeup as last season, even with his down year stats 2

It would have to be a special player at WR. Edited August 31, 2019 by formerlyofCtown

Magnum Force Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 I wonder if they are keeping Sills because he could be a 3rd QB if needed. 1

The Frankish Reich Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 Duke Williams: I hope he makes it onto the PS. In retrospect, signing Andre Roberts was ill advised. McKenzie is a fantastic punt return man (if he holds on to the ball!) - if he is making the team, there's no need for a return specialist.
