I understand there are woman out there built like men but it's just different when a male kicker is getting laid out than if it's a female the target of those same hits. I can't see this happening. I'm hoping she chooses Buffalo for a try-out since Hauschka has commented about working with her. Ironically he just signed a 2 year extension which could coincide with her getting a season on the PS. It would be exciting as a fan, I would welcome it. Edited August 30, 2019 by ddaryl

There have been some tiny, fragile kickers in the NFL over the years and to my knowledge, they all survived. I previously said that if a team simply used her as a FG kicker, that could negate some of the risk. And it’s a fair consideration, to use another kicker as a KO specialist. I also said that if she could just kick touchbacks that could be another way to avoid her life getting cut tragically short. But she’d have have to be really money on FGs for that to be a consideration.
thebandit27 Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 I honestly don't see what the big deal is here. Let her try out. If she's good enough to warrant serious consideration, and she's willing to take on the injury risk, then let her play. 2

Yes, but can’t you see this getting messy? Pregnant player cut because they’re pregnant, that’s lawsuit territory. Could get weird in the locker room too. Love triangles, multiple lovers #drama. Leave football to the boys. If girls want to play, start a female league. 2

Aireskoi Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Will Lutz had 3 solo tackles for the Saints last year, he's a kicker. Maybe this lady can make tackles on kick returners also? 13 other kickers made tackles last year, I'm sure some of them were TD saving? I count 21 tackles by kickers in 2018. We don't need that around here, if the returner makes it our (imaginary female) kicker she can let them go maybe? Now that's progressive!

There are female kickers in every other level of organized men’s football in this country, including college D1. Don't know if this has been pointed out, because I haven't read the whole thread, but when she "hit the 55-yard FG", she got about a 5-6 yard run at the ball, so it was more like a kickoff.
MJS Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 Just checked in to see if the manly men are still fighting the good fight. Looks like they are! Good job! Keep those women folk in their place. This is a MAN'S GAME! Grumble, grumble, grumble. 1 1

Augie Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 The video of her kick was cool, and also showed her with a kickoff style run-up. Can’t do that on a FG. I say no way on earth she EVER makes an NFL roster, EVER. If I’m wrong, I’ll let each and every one of you buy me a drink!

I guarantee women's can kick just as well as men in Football. Women Soccer players have insane legs, just as good as the men kicking in the NFL today. There is absolutely nothing a hypothetical woman can't do in the NFL kicking that a man can. That said Carli Lloyds's age is more of a factor than her kicking... She's at the age where men and women begin to break down physically. She is less likely to be able to sustain her success because of that. But I'm all for her trying. If women want to play and can do everything necessary, who the hell are you message board key board warriors to begrudge this woman who as an athlete has completed AND WON at the highest levels in the world. Bunch of ignorant bozos who need to move out of their moms basements... I guarantee you're wrong.

The Buffalo Bills place-kicker told ESPN on Thursday night he is "excited" for Lloyd, who went viral last week after a video of her kicking a 55-yard field goal during a Philadelphia Eagles-Baltimore Ravens practice led to multiple offers from NFL teams. Hauschka, 34, played soccer at Middlebury College before transitioning to football, and said he can relate to Lloyd's consideration to make a similar career move. "I saw the way she kicked that ball and she's obviously got a lot of talent," Hauschka said after the Bills' preseason finale. "It feels close to my heart because when I was 18, 19 years old, I was a soccer player and I had a dream of kicking footballs just for my Division III college team. I was fortunate enough to have an opportunity and I had a coach that showed me how to do it. "If it's something she really wants to do, not only will I help her out -- if she wants it -- but I hope she goes for it. I do think it's possible to kick well in this league as a female. It's a very mental position, it's physical, it's technical and I think it could be done eventually." peterpan Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 No offense but kicking a long FG won't get her anywhere. When I played pop warner my dad would set up a ball and kick 65 yard FGs off a T with his old square toed shoes. 64 yards was the NFL record at the time. He was in his 40s. I wondered why he wasn't an NFL kicker!!!! It didn't make sense to a 10 year old kid but it does now. 1
