BuffaloBillsGospel Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 I really like these trades that Beane makes for guys we would probably just cut, a 5th and 6th rounder for Teller and a 2021 7th is pretty darn good imo for an average G.

Well, the coaches see him more than any of us, so I'll trust their judgement. As far as the trade goes, it was good, but nothing special. We got the pick back that we used on him and swapped a 6th and 7th. Good, but not as outrageous as some seem to think. I still think Cleveland could get the best of this deal in time, but only time will tell with Teller. Hated him? He was one of the darlings of many here since the day he was drafted. Not gonna speculate why, but facts are he was pretty terrible from start to finish and Beane worked his black magic again to get a good return on a sub-replacement level scrub.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 I was a fan ,so im bummed but all i care about is getting the best 53 to win games. Process!!

Teller didn't have positional flexibility. This comment plus not keeping Teller himself makes me wonder if they aren't going to just keep 8 OL.

They traded a guy who wasn't going to start and apparently wasn't even a primary backup for a 5th and 6th in next year's draft. Draft experts will tell you that the value of a 7th round pick TWO drafts from now is almost negligible, and Beane now has more draft capital in 2020.
WideRightRevenge Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Stocking up on picks go draft a new punter in 2020 .. these later round pics .. will help us corner the market on special team help .. McBeane .. GENIUS!!

They traded him because he was rightly disgruntled when they signed scrubs for more money than they were willing to pay him. That sickened me the way the Bill's with Marv Levy as GM handled that. I liked Teller, but he wasn't a stand out player. You missed the sarcasm.
stevewin Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Bet Josh is bummed today - Teller was one of his good buddies on the team

thebandit27 Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 So think of the haul for Teller in this context: He was a 5th round pick that wasn't going to make the roster, so the team was able to ship him and a 7th for a 5th and a 6th. Contrast that with NE... https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/08/30/patriots-trade-duke-dawson-to-broncos/ They had a 2018 2nd-round pick that wasn't going to make the roster, so the team shipped him and a 7th for a 6th.

It's a business. (though I imagine it's a hard couple years when you learn not to get to close to anyone.)
