Obviously they know now and they continue to play. Am I right?

No, go back and look at the history, if you recall that was the year the NFL "come clean", the risks were known (no not all the risks, we certainly dont know all the risks) , hell there were lawsuits about in 30? ytr s prior.

But if it does happen, instead of saying "I don't give 2 ****"....you could just say nothing? I personally don't want anyone to suffer in anyway.

There's a lot of athletes that grow up in poverty, and this is there only chance to not only bring themselves out of it, but the rest of their families, present and future generations. I dont disagree with this. All these people complaining about it will get "their wish", the game wont be the same in the very near future and the kids that did want to risk it for the fame and money, wont be able to.

The relationship between TBI and CTE is still not well understood. That football is dangerous has always been the case, but specific to CTE and the subsequent lawsuit I wouldn't expect players today to have a great understanding of CTE, no.

Does mean this isn't an issue. There's more and bigger issues than your cable going out during a Bills game. But if it happens, are you just going to sit back and say "there's bigger issues than this...so I won't complain and calmly wait until the Bills game comes back on".
Beast Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 You want to ban football you better start banning other sports like hockey, MMA, boxing, NASCAR.... However, there isn't a player on the field today (or even over the last 10 years or so) that is not aware of the potential long term health issues - and not just CTE. They may not have known about CTE, but they knew they were possibly looking at long term health issues seeing what previous players had been through. I think people have known for a while that taking many blows to the head could result in problems. Now they just know more about it. As for the other careers, sure miners and factory workers know that they can end up with health issues later on, the difference is most have little other choice for a career. There isn't much out there if you don't have the education and need to support yourself and family. Playing a game for money is more of a luxury for those born with the skills and talent to do it. They don't have to and no one's making them do it. They can leave and get other careers to make ends meet. It is a shame that a billion dollar industry that is making money off others playing a game that can affect their long term health doesn't give them medical care afterwards, but that's also part of why they get paid so well today, it's not the league's problem most can't save for retirement. But it's also not surprising that they don't have it seeing as how Vets don't get much assistants, and first responders needed to have a celebrity help them fight for almost 20 years to get help in what is supposed to be the best Country that makes everyone pay for their own medical care.....
