Why not just sign him to a long term deal.... ya know?  Because he's a good player and all.

?

Idea is that the bills couldn't come to an agreement on a deal and to illustrate that the trade cost would be/could be made up by moving him ourselves, so the true cost is very little or even we could make out on the deal

In an ideal world they would sign a long term deal and solidify the defensive end position for the next few years

But for now we are just talking hypotheticals

What is wrong with the thread? He is going to be traded. Bills are one of the teams in the mix. He hasn’t been traded yet. Therefore, discussion ensues.

I seriously doubt the Bills are in the running to overpay on multiple fronts for Clowney.

Beane ain't giving up the farm with players, draft picks and money for Clowney. No chance in hell.

Yes...a "Clowney watch" thread is probably going to continue until he's traded.

Is that really so shocking?

Not at all, it's just I don't see Beane doing it, so it's the end of the thread for me.

He inquired about Antonio Brown....how is Clowney completely out of the question?

We need 4-5 more guys in the next draft ( may be another couple of reasonably priced FAs) to set this team up with a nice group going forward for the next 6-8 years, and we need cash to pay those guys.

I love the course this team is on and I am fine with sticking to it.

It’s ok to just scroll past the thread

The compensation Royale.

You really think Beane wants to give up multiple players, multiple draft picks AND pay the monster contract for Clowney.

I'll ask you.............

Do you think the Bills are getting Clowney?

It won't be multiple players and multiple high draft picks. It might be a combination of the two, but it won't be multiple players and multiple high picks. And yea - I think Beane would do any deal if it made sense and Clowney is outstanding.

It doesn’t matter whether I think they are getting him or not. I have no idea what they are doing.

However, I still think Clowney is a good player, just not that good, or rather not worth the money.

Some of you guys don't actually put the butter on the bread before you grill the cheese, do you?

Gotta get it in the skillet and go from there.  Just be sure to flip before it scorches, but leave some room to still put down more butter.

That's the ticket.

You and I both know what the price is or what has been discussed or what Beane is thinking.

But Clowney to Buffalo is not a pipe dream either. We have assets and cap room, plus we have a good D that Clowney might want to play for.

I put the butter on the frying pan, wait until it sizzles and then I drop the sandwich on it.

Royale, I am not kidding, I cannot get a delicious grilled cheese sandwich with a bowl of creamy tomato soup, soup spiced with pepper and hot sauce, out of my head right now and it is driving me crazy.

Crazy.

There have been rumors about the Bills interest in Clowney for months. The Gaine connection, cap space, need for a young elite pass rusher, all make it plausible that they are indeed in the mix as been reported by this outlet as well as Ben allbright. I have no reason to believe they aren’t in the mix until the team either puts out a statement or he’s traded elsewhere. They were also involved in trying to trade for Khalil Mack last year.
