Like I said I wouldn’t be mad at all if they kept him. Guy’s made a few impressive plays and it isn’t like he’d be taking the spot of some superstar wideout. Yup, he has been making the kind catches that we saw KB and Zay drop numerous times last season. And it's pretty obvious (to me anyways) that Duke has been definitely making the most of his opportunities thus far. In any event we will see how the cookie crumbles very soon.
BearNorth Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 With Duke's size, 6-3 230, is he a replacement for DiMarco? and becomes a swiss army knife type player, e.g. H-back, third TE, goal line specialist, He has linebacker size if he can play teams, he's a real interesting player.

Doubt the PR department would allow this to happen to someone who's slated to be cut... https://www.buffalobills.com/video/duke-williams-it-all-starts-with-practice This is same production people who do the website and once they posted the wrong score. This does not mean much.

And don’t even get me started on game day inactives. Ridiculous. Game day inactives are there for a reason - players would get dinged and released rather than not being used for a couple of weeks. Having some inactive allows players who need a break to recover and players who need development time and would be taken of PS place to be. Roster, both active and PS, have been increased multiple times. Rosters used to be ?44? players when I started watching.

They can use him as a blocker on run downs instead of or with 1 TE... Croom odd man out. Then decision to be made week 7 when Kroft is off PUP this is fine thinking

Orlando Buffalo Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 I at this point hope they keep 7 recievers and only 3 tight ends if Williams is a good blocker( I simply have no idea if he can block) Williams is a physical freak and can be used many ways. 1
Mat68 Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Brown, Beasley, Foster, Roberts, Jones are the 5. The rest comes down to how many Wrs? Seperation is more important than size in the regular season. McKenzie is the 6th. I dont see how they keep 7. Williams is on a short list of who they call if a Wr goes down. I think Yeldon makes the roster. That makes 5 Rb/Fb not enough room for an extra Wr.

It's weak to point to the fact that in game 3 of preseason--the "dress rehearsal"--that Duke had more snaps than any other WR, including a bunch of snaps in the 1st half with the 1s??? Sounds like you went to "many" TC practices, but clearly the coaches are seeing something you didn't in your expert TC observations. 1

There will be numerous wideouts more accomplished than Duke, with the same size and skillset, cut in a few days by other teams. Size and skillset... Great... Duke looks mean and hungry and like he knows this might be his last shot in the NFL... that's why the Bills need to keep him, along with the obvious size and skillset stuff. 3

I mean, I am not sure how you can accurately quantify “mean” and “hungry” (maybe you have a system) but yes he may be both those things which I could care less about if a more talented, experienced receiver becomes available after cuts. But, as I said, I won’t mind at all if they keep Duke. I like what i’ve seen in 2 practice games. Against backups. People here that went to camp said he didn’t do squat in practice. He’s got character issues. Yet you and others are way quick to shrug that off but we got a collection of pitchforks for zay jones. Im just saying, it’s sounds like you’re just picking your favorites and not really having much to back that up.
freddyjj Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 DaRick Rogers Dez Lewis Dhaquille "Duke" Williams The "Rule of D" which states preseason darling longshot WRs must be cut is in play here. Same goes for David Sills. ?

Yes, that’s correct. You’re doing that thing you do except it’s for an overrated WR instead of a QB. Quote Sounds like you went to "many" TC practices, but clearly the coaches are seeing something you didn't in your expert TC observations. I like the snark here and your skepticism that I went to a bunch of practices as if that’s something worth lying about. Maybe it’s tough for you to believe that there are people who live locally and can take advantage of going to free practices? And where did I claim to have expert observations? You don’t need to be an expert to see a guy isn’t making plays in practice.

It all began for him right near the end of training camp at St. John Fisher College, where it seemed like something clicked for the receiver. Williams brought in a contested catch in the end zone during practice, and from that point forward, he’s been on a steady incline. He provides something that no other receiver on the roster does with his size, and now he’s starting to figure out how to win on his routes. His effectiveness as a run blocker is a significant factor in the decision, as well. Williams should hang on through the initial 53-man roster, but if the team makes a waiver claim over the weekend, he could end up on the shortlist to be released.

njbuff Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 I don’t know if he can get even just a little separation from NFL CB’s. That might still cost him a roster spot.
