Ed Rutkowski? Really? He was the fifth “disaster” QB in ‘68 when our first four QBs were lost to injuries. He was never even listed as a QB for the Bills until that disastrous ‘68 season. He hadn’t played QB since his sophomore year at ND. He was mostly a receiver, RB, and return specialist for the Bills. He even played at DB when asked.

To use Rutkowski as an example to bolster your argument that we’ve had worse QBs than Peterman just isn’t credible.

While he was indeed a disaster, he had 3 starts, which is enough to be credible IMO...

If we lost four QBs to injury this season and had to press Zay Jones into service as a result, would he also be a credible QB in your eyes?

You simply shouldn’t have included Rutkowski on your QB list. He was never a QB as a pro; never drafted as one (not drafted at all, actually), never developed as one, never even took a snap as one until they asked him to volunteer as a disaster QB.

Perhaps you're right.

But even so, was Ed the worst in NFL history?   (asking for a friend)

Yes, ER was the worst non quarterback quarterback in history. He’d probably agree with that, too.

Peterman may not have a rocket arm, but he's smart and accurate. I believe that, As he gains experience (it is only his 3rd year coming up), he will learn to avoid mistakes on the types of throws that are dangerous for him, and will do some good things in this league.

I think his football IQ was as much the problem as his arm. Wouldn't call him smart by any means seeing his decision making. Now how much is chalked to nerves vs actual football intelligence who knows.

But it's not a smart play to lob the ball up when you can't see over the DE about to nail you.

The whole list is ridiculous. I'm sorry, but Lurker does not remember enough of Ed Rutkowski's three starts from over fifty years ago (whether he was there, or not) to draw an honest comparison to Peterman. Nor does he remember the one, and only game Brian McClure ever played in 1987 to draw an honest comparison. Clearly, he googled something like "worst Bills Quarterbacks," or something like that, and yanked some names off some list without a ton of thought.

Google makes experts of us all.
