BrycePaup4ever Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 (edited) Im watching Hard Knocks Season 13 episode 1 where Landry is crying about his players being soft and my blood got boiling. F this guy! Its so bad that i didnt feel much after watching the youtube video of his highschool sweetheart dying. Maybe he carries anger towards God on the field over that or something. Dablitzkrieg Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 I'm conflicted on it. I appreciate his passion. I would probably defend one of my players if he was the aggressor. Therefore, maybe I'm leaning toward "it's part of the game". 2
Just Joshin' Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Yes, clearly dirty and illegal. He was fined for the hit. Thus, it was deemed dirty. 6 1
Johnny Hammersticks Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 It was dirty as hell. Could have killed/paralyzed the man. Wasn’t in any way necessary to make the block. 5
BrycePaup4ever Posted August 22, 2019 Author Posted August 22, 2019 Im also wondering if the type of play is what made me mad.
Rc2catch Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 I try to look from the outside in on this stuff. If the roles reversed and it was a bills player making that hit Landry did I would still 100% call it dirty and probably not like said player as much. Robert woods was and is one of my favorite players to watch closely but if he made that same kind of hit I’d lose respect for him. Being tough and doing dirty work is much different than just playing dirty. Same for the gronk hit on white 2
Royale with Cheese Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 It's dirty. It's the same thing as hitting a defenseless receiver which are flagged all the time.
BrycePaup4ever Posted August 22, 2019 Author Posted August 22, 2019 Omg the Gronk elbow drop was crazy. Another reason to F the Patriots. 4
Royale with Cheese Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 By the way...this is what Bryce Paup looks like today. 1 1 1
DrDawkinstein Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Yes, dirty and illegal. There are plenty of ways to have clean, legal, and relatively safe BIG HITS. The guys who have to use the dirty methods are just cheap and lazy. 1
BrycePaup4ever Posted August 22, 2019 Author Posted August 22, 2019 I think Paup is at Kurt Warners school lol
thenorthremembers Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 I had to go back and watch it. It was brutal, but a bit conflicted on how dirty it was. Aaron had his eyes on the ball carrier and didnt look at Jarvis until a second before he got smacked. Jarvis certainly wasn't using any sort of blocking technique so in that sense it really isnt part of the game because he was hitting more than he was blocking but a lot of chip blocks on a defender coming backside look a lot like that, just not in the speed of the open field. In comparison the Gronk elbow drop was after a play, out of bounds and a wrestling move. 1
H2o Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Dirty af. I hate Landry. Not only did he end A. Williams' career, but he also pulled some similar crap on Taron Johnson. that guy. 3

The issue I've always had about the hit on Aaron that ended his career was the candyass response by his teammates. 2
DCbillsfan Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 (edited) Yes it was dirty. Plays like this one plus concussion issues in general forced the NFL to change the rules. Now anytime there's a loud collision on the field I expect a penalty. Edited August 22, 2019 by DCbillsfan 1
