FYI, the sportsbook at del Lago Casino, between Rochester and Syracuse, Exit 41 off 90, is opening at noon this Friday 8/23. I'm planning on stopping by to see what kind of wagers I'll be able to place on the Bills.  The sportsbook is being run by DraftKings.  Special guest is supposed to be Donavan McNabb.

If they are anything like Fanduel in NJ, the Bills making the playoffs patys +410. Winning the AFCE is +1100

Still going to gamble the old fashioned way and not throw money at NFL owners who, on top of being disgustingly wealthy through antitrust exemptions and local corporate welfare, fought against legal gamble for years until they figured out a way to profit from it. F them. Keep your neighborhood bookie in business and also find the pathway to overseas books.

Clap it up for crime ??????

It’s what the states get for being greedy.

Idiots/Feds banned legit online poker sites like Pokerstars, and effectively killed the “poker boom”.

Now poker rooms have closed across the country, and while they were never a cash cow themselves for casinos, it got a lot of people in the doors.  People played online and wanted to go experience “the real thing”, the rush of shoving there chips in the pot.

Tycoons like senile Sheldon Adelson slaughtered the golden goose thinking it was taking money from brick and mortars without realizing that accessibility to the product was the driving force to get people in their doors.

LOL, that guy has made billions opening megacasinos overseas.

His geese are still laying gold.

Make sure it's the right Donovan Mcnabb, the eagles had open tryouts one year and they promised Donovan Mcnabb and it was just another guy who happened to be named Donovan Mcnabb.

I’m sure it is, I’m just referring to the industry over here. Aside from over saturation of the market,  I think the casino struggles are directly related to the way the government crackdown dropped an atomic bomb on the poker boom.  The plan was to regulate state by state, but bureaucracy does what bureaucracy does, (drags it’s arse), and barely any states pass legislation. The ones that do legalize online poker have such a small player pool to choose from that they all under perform (unrealistic) expectations, because the Einstein’s running the show didn’t take into account that Pokerstars was a global player pool vs a bunch of degenerates in New Jersey and Nevada...

I’ve heard Del Lago was in the red big time. Let’s hope this sports book can turn the tide for them eh?

You can just say it’s in Waterloo NY..

any true upstater knows where that is.

Living in Taiwan, I have been running a hard campaign against the whole of beautiful NY being referred to as "upstate".  I am from Western New York.

New York bloody City does not get to define the rest of the state. They're no England. Ha

Poker accounts for 5-6% of gambling in casinos.  You are overstating its importance.

Any word on when/if this will come to the Buffalo area? They need to get on that. Also, bring it up online. Absolutely no reason not to have it online if it is in the casinos anyways. I suppose the same could be said of online poker though ?

....what about Tioga?...

It was already open as a race track and slot place and is the only place down here. Money talked on that one on Seneca Falls

Rumor I've heard: Tom Wilmot is partnering with the Seneca's, to develop a new casino at Marketplace Mall in Henrietta

i've heard there was something brewing at eastview in terms of a bigger renter coming in, but i can't imagine it's a casino.  a casino at marketplace may be the grossest thing i can think of.

When I lived in Henrietta there was talk of putting a casino (not at Marketplace, I think it may have been out near East Henrietta rd and townline?) anyway there was a huge push back there from the people. I cant imagine much has changed

i'd assume there'd still be some friction as well.  the malls here are not in good shape.  marketplace doesn't really exist anymore.  greece town mall is a total trainwreck, and even the "nice" mall at eastview has a number of open store fronts.  brick and mortar is having a really tough time.

I'll be throwing down a couple hundred on the Bills to win it all. I hope to get there this weekend. I said it in the shoutbox earlier that I think the Bills are built just like the 2013 Seahawks so it's worth a shot. It'll give me a season worth of added excitement for basically the same cost as an expensive night out.
