I was a worry wart on this from the beginning. I’m less concerned now. I do think the brass is playing games with this somewhat, but serious concussions aren’t dealt this way Leaguewide. I believe the NFL would come down hard on McBeane if they thought/knew there was more to this than what OBD is admitting. jmo.

They have him in concussion protocol.  What more would the league be looking for, as far as how the Bills are handling it?

I was going to say this but add in even more. Try him at KR, try him in the coverage teams, and for gods sake, for the thought of carrying him and getting rid of Dimarco, can we try him at FB? Just to see how he does. I know it’s another position for him. But if it means keeping him over the useless Dimarco, I’m all for it. Maybe he doesn’t do amazing, but he’s a rock solid tree trunk that’s impossible to bring down, maybe get him in there putting some hits on people to see how he does. At the very least, would be fun to see him and Shady or Singletary in the backfield at the same time.

That is why I made the smoke and mirrors comment.

He doesn't really need to be out there IMO

You're assuming another team will claim him for their active 53??    The questions you yourself ask likely would also scare other teams away too from active 53.  Would other team like him o n their PS, sure, but why would be sign for another teams PS and not Buffalo?  Often guys will sign with another team because they feel they were shafted, don't sense that about him if he were to be cut.

Believe me, I hope so! The whole concept of an extra PS position that can’t be called up this year is a great way for this idea to evolve. I HOPE all the other teams think like this, but I’m fairly sure most teams weren’t offered a player for this exchange. Could there be some hard feelings elsewhere?

I think Lee Smith stays on roster in Dimarco's spot. Knox, Sweeney, Croom at TE

the PPP (no not that ppp) started in 2017 and I think the NFL is slowly working its way division by division.

Idk, but this is a $eriou$ matter to the NFL. I assume there’s League oversight on this protocol. Many, if not most players who’ve suffered a concussion get back to playing much sooner than this episode.

Pretty much this. If this IS true and he can be picked up by another team through waivers, he would have to be on their 53 and that just doesn’t seem like it’s happening. PS, sure, I bet a dozen or so teams would want him on their PS but that cannot happen. IF the rule is true and he can only sign with another team or he’s on our PS I expect him to be on our PS. Maybe, just maybe, there’s a team out there with a RB... OR Holdout... that would want to sign him.

Dallas

LA

or anyone else that gets an injury late in preseason.

Oh, I understand what you're saying now.   I just don't know why, if it wasn't as dire as I'm thinking it is, the Bills didn't take him out of protocol and just announce that he's not going to see any action until Week 1.

Hard feeling or not, it's still up to Wade to decide to take an offer for another teams PS over Buffalo, unless the hard feelings are with Wade himself.  Then agree, if he truely thinks he deserves to be on the Bills active 53 and they don't make that move, then likely he will go sign with another team eve nfor their PS.  But just don't sense that from what he's said publicly, admittedly talk is cheap.

I thought that can happen, he can sign with any team for their PS,  just once he signs to someones PS another team can't come in and take him even for their active 53.  He's is then locked in on that teams PS for the entire season.

He cannot be on another teams PS. It’s our PS or signed on another teams 53. That’s it

Yeah, I can’t speak to that. They’ve turned it into a bit of a circus with their aloofness.

Just a gut feeling. I think he’ll be back in the fold very soon -starting against the Jets.

Thanks for the breakdown Gunner.

By the way, I think my favorite part of this game was how desperately the announcing crew was trying to put a positive spin on things for the Panthers.  Every time there was any good plays by Carolina (which was rare) they would say ok, now this will give them the momentum they need, and things like that.  It had to be a Panthers focussed broadcast because they did not focus much on our players throughout the game.

That’s what I thought too, based on what I read at NFL.com, but the Bills recently said otherwise.

I think so, too.  I just fear that it won't last long.  We shall see!

That' where I am too.  2 weeks ago completely agreed too with what mags stated, now not so sure.  There's an entire thread on it, but that still leaves some question.  Buffalo rumblings agrees with mrags.

We shall see soon as doubt any team would sign him to their 53 unless decimated by injuries.
