Gugny Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 It recently dawned on me that some of my favorite movies are heavily narrated. The ones that came to mind were: Shawshank Redemption Stand By Me Goodfellas What other heavily narrated movies do you think were good? 1
Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 Which ‘Blade Runner’ did you prefer? The ‘narrated’ version by Deckard, or the director’s cut?
dickleyjones Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 Dune, if you count hearing character's inner thoughts.
DC Tom Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 The Usual Suspects. Carlito's Way. But Goodfellas is far and away the best use of voiceover narration. Scorcese is an absolute master of that technique (e.g., Casino and Taxi Driver.) 3
WhoTom Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 It's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember "The Gods Must Be Crazy" being heavily narrated.
BringBackFergy Posted August 18, 2019 Posted August 18, 2019 “Brighton Beach Memoirs” was a Neil Simon play, turned movie (with Jon Silverman) which has many “asides” which, in essence, is narration. And absolutely hilarious. 1
