In my desperate effort to survive the offseason, I came across some highlights I hadn't seen in a while.

Good game with some foreshadowing of what might happen later that year. One thing that surprised me was hearing the Giants fans cheer when Kelly went down injured at 8:18. It sounds like the entire stadium was cheering. Even 30 years later Giant Fan you lose points with me. It makes my skin crawl. Anyways, this was still a good game to watch agaim from a golden age of Bill's football

Wow, lots of foreshadowing indeed.  Two lengthy Giant drives taking more than 7:00 off the clock, having success running the ball, and then also some missed tackles allowing 3rd down conversions when Hostetler was in.  Still, fun to remember when the Bills actually won big games!

those on-screen graphics are hilariously bad (by today’s standards)

They really are, but you know what? Nobody cared.  I've never had more fun watching football than I did back then.

I often have wondered what SB25 may have been if Parcells and Belichick didn't get such a real time look at the Bills just weeks before they played for the championship.

Was about to post this.  Pry the worst thing that could've happened is giving Belichick a second crack at our offense.

Turn the tables, in 2007 the Patriots beat the NY Giants in December.  The NYG went on to beat the Pats in the SB almost two months later.  Steve Spagnuolo and Tom Coughlin got a good look at the Pats dominant offense and saw how it and Brady could be defeated.

I love the 1990 Bills highlights.  Best team to not win the SB.

From that win to “wide right” the Bills were the best team in the NFL

Probably never happens again

You gotta “billieve” that it will happen again. Isn’t that the point of our obsessive fandom, pursuing that reality?

I forgot all about LT dropping 2 INTs, that luck saved the game for us. The first one where Kelly floated a throw-away to the middle of the field was one of the worst QB decisions I've ever seen, Peterman-esque. Couldn't believe he did that.

Good find, a lot of people forget about this game.  I also look for old Bills games in the off season to get my fix, thanks for sharing

I've filled up my YouTube with lots of users with old Buffalo Bills/NFL content. Here's a few (be sure to click on 'Videos' to see their whole library)...

Andy Provin - To me, the most comprehensive Buffalo Bills video content you'll find: Games, highlight films, compilation videos (Obscure Bills QBs who threw a TD and video of the throw(s), for example).

John-Paul Müller - Buffalo Bills Late-80s through 2002 (not every year but a lot of the Bills heyday).

FRANTHESCRAM - Name suggests a Vikings fan, but a TON of old NFL GOTWs and other shows.

jstube36 - More great content (TWIPF with Summerall and Brookshire), plus late-40s/early-50s content.

Comrade Dobler - Classic Cleveland Browns content.

Randy Fast - Lots of Bud Grant-era Vikings videos.

Grey Beard - Even more classic stuff.

And, if you need your fix of NFL Films music (and you think Sam Spence was the only one who created great scores for the films), then Dave Volsky is your hookup. He has developed several playlists of the music that you can click on and enjoy for hours. I've taken a several of them and converted to MP3 and have on a thumb drive I'll bring with me to the Home Opener.

Dave even creates his own compilations and re-imagines long-lost videos that only have an audio track.

I have many more but that's a good starter to satisfy a classic NFL fan's needs.

Great point. However, in the case of the Bills and Rams, Belichick lost both those games and had to come up with a more effective way to slow them down. To your point though, the Giants, even though they got beat in week 17, had a good long look at how NE pass protected and concluded they might get to Brady with a four man rush. They were right.

There were multiple GIANTS injuries that stopped the clock, and allowed substitutions, and disrupted the cadence of the no huddle. All the giants players made a miraculous recovery, and continued playing the game. It was legal, but not 'in the spirit of the game', as Bill Polian said afterwords.

This of course, led to the competition committee instituting the two minute rule of the loss of a timeout due to injury. The game essentially, was Belichick's first 'perfect cheat'.

That being said, the Bills simply should've ran the ball down the Giants throats for the entire game, which they were doing a pretty good job of. 135 yards on 15 carries for Thurman. 190 yards from scrimmage.(5/55 rec.) (9.5 yards/touch)

The Bills were not outclassed, but certainly out-coached.
