Sanders set to face onslaught at Dem debate, as gloves come off against front-runner

By Brooke Singman | Fox News

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Bernie Sanders is poised to face perhaps the toughest debate of his political life Tuesday night in South Carolina, as his rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination signal they will attack his record on socialism, guns and much more in a bid to arrest his momentum before he can clear a path to the nomination.

At the debate a week ago, Sanders tangled with rivals but many of them were focused on taking down billionaire Michael Bloomberg, who joined them on stage for the first time. But with Sanders now the undisputed front-runner following his sweeping victory in Nevada, virtually everybody else in the field is desperate to prevent the ornery democratic socialist from carrying his winning streak through South Carolina this Saturday and into Super Tuesday -- while amassing a delegate lead that could be exceedingly difficult to close.

Yeah, this whole thing about his homes is really weak.

It could be effective in the general election but rings hollow in a Democratic primary.

I also am tired of the hysterics by some on the right (and left) who keep going on about the fiction Bernie wrote fifty years ago

There are plenty of reasons to oppose Bernie, Sex fiction is not very high on the list.

Not the right thread for this comment -- but that picture is extra freaky at the moment because our neighbors in my building got a visit from two kids just like that (only w black eyes) at 11:30pm a few nights ago. I made the mistake of giving them material on black eyed children -- that didn't help them sleep any better.

My wife likes to listen to podcasts while she falls asleep. Sometimes she’ll go on a horror podcast kick and I usually don’t mind, but one night she was listening to one about black eyed children showing up on the doorstep in the middle of the night and I was so creeped out I made her turn it off.

It's a freaky subject -- one I only paid attention to in passing. But when they started telling us about the two random kids who showed up on their doorstep at 11:30pm, I thought for sure they were joking. But when I asked about the eyes they freaked out, "how did you know?!"

I have to move now.

Elizabeth Warren should have a secret alliance with Bernie. All the delegates she collects can be handed over to Bernie later. She could give him the majority he needs at the convention. As she collects delegates, the radical left position gains force, but it's less obvious than it would be if all of them went to Bernie. She's serving his interests, and he can make her his VP choice.

I can't see Warren doing this. It goes against all of her strong woman rhetoric.

Then again, it IS Warren.  She doesn't seem to hold fast to her rhetoric.

And what should Biden, Bloomberg, Buttigieg, and Klobuchar do?

If they're smart, they'll blast Bernie as a Socialist/Communist.  He will never deny it.  He hates being up there with Democrats.

But they won't because they're not honest.

Maybe Bloomberg will rise to the occasion. Expectations are low now, after last week's debate fiasco. Surely, he's taken some coaching and has a more realistic idea of how to do a debate. He's incredibly arrogant, but he got an epic humiliation. And everyone's interested in seeing what he can do to make a comeback.

What all of this has shown is that 70-somethings (including Trump and Clinton four years ago) are what they are -- and they don't change easily.  Bloomberg won't rebound from his humiliation.

...just hope you don't SERIOUSLY expect me believe the "Gimme Crowd" even knows the location of Cuba or Venezuela, let alone the ramifications of Communist/Socialist rule.....they're waiting for a Publisher's Clearing House" type to show up at their house with "Bernie's Booty".....

I'm not so sure about that.

Someone just needs to ask "What percentage of Americans own three homes?" and suddenly Bernie may be a 5 percenter. Imagine a man railing against millionaires and billionaires from one of his three homes.

It's a really bad look, and I would not be surprised to hear more hammering about this tonight.

Granted, I don't find it to be a big deal at all EXCEPT for the fact that the guy with three homes is trying to tell people with no homes and a quarter million in college debt that he understands them.

I think you play the game the way the game is played if for no other reason than your opponent will play as such.  Sanders would cut the throat of anyone close to one of his opponents and leave them bleeding in the shadows to improve his standing, it just is what it is.

The house issue is fair game. $500,000+ cash would pay for a lot of late term abortions for his constituents. The rape story is what it is, and up to the voter to decide as to whether or not it's relevant to them in 2020.

Well, I'm going to get hammered.

"The economy is doing really great for people like Mr. Bloomberg and billionaires."

"Billionaires" — DRINK.
