Funny how the McBean haters have disappeared from this board?

Two years ago people where apoplectic on here regarding “ The process”, looks like they might be onto something both business- wise and talent evaluation- wise.

That's good. Looks like the lack of dead cap isn't helping the Bucs at all. They still sick.

I don’t recall people saying it was unnecessary, but it is true that their moves are what contributed to the dead cap problem.

Regardless, creating cap space isn’t an accomplishment. Any idiot GM can cut players and make cap room. Where this staff is going to get judged the most is in Allen’s development and the number of games we win.

Remember the McBean haters after the first two games of last season(Ravens & Chargers)?

How times have changed.

It's not really complicated.

They got rid of guys they had no attachment to creating a ***** ton of dead cap space.

They now have a roster of guys they want and aren't cutting players who were paid from the previous regime, hence not a lot of dead cap space.... whether that roster is actually good or not is yet to be determined.

I still don't think this is the full roster they want.  I think this years signings were about creating depth which is why the number of fa signed was so high.  The cupboard was incredibly bare last year (yes of there own doing).  IIRC a lot of the contracts were prove it deals so I expect some more churning next year as well.  I also think after this year they will push all their chips in and I expect at least 1 big fa splash.

This isn't quite a put up or shut up year but there needs to be improvement in their record and offensive prowess.  This team should be competitive but I don't think it is a contending team yet.  Unless Allen pulls a Mahomes that is...

With a plan to refill the cap space in the years ahead it with resigning their own and finding value FA's who want to be here.

Creating the dead cap situation doesn't take away from the fact that the mis-management of the cap was done prior to Beane being here. The fact that they got it cleaned up nice and quickly deserves praise. The fact they got it cleaned up quickly while still showing some forward progression last year is incredible

Key point left out of your "not really complicated" explanation.

Charles Clay and AJ McCarron alone are $6.5MM.

There are only two people on the current roster that I could see adding to this in any meaningful way, but they will still most likely be on the roster: 1) the Shady speculation (he'd cost about $2.4 mil in dead cap); and 2) if Kroft can't come back from the same foot he previously injured.  Not sure how the dead cap would adjust for an injury settlement, but he has a $4.2 mil dead cap hit currently.

No doubt, Beane has put them in a very good situation.

Yeah, it really sucks having a healthy situation now with a team seemingly on the rise. I just don’t know what we should do.

Let's begin with the players who were forced to retire due to injuries/medical conditions (Eric Wood and Aaron Williams). How is Beane in any way "responsible" for creating their problems/conditions. And did he turn Incognito into a "psycho" too? Really!

And what role did Beane play in forcing/cajoling Vontae Davis into retiring at half-time??

Does anyone out there really wish we could have Tyrod playing QB for this team instead of Josh Allen???

And then there is Marcel. Better to have a DL who is into drag racing and imbibing synthetic MJ and underperforming out there on the field???

Gimme a break....

I'll try to pick up the slack.

Bills just released Foggie.  That's $2,666 more in Dead Money.

Beane will have us in cap hell again in no time!
