Generally, I think today's NFL is peak NFL and decline in interest is inevitable. So the possibility exists that the Cowboy's Jones will have to panhandle to make the last few payments on Jerrah World? The Bills and Erie County could look like the smart ones by not joining in on the "me too" mentality of building a new palace and be struggling in ten years to make the payments. 1

Will be in area that can be accessed on non game days to, as will be a 365 day a year operation

You mean Jerry and the 5 Billion dollar valuation just placed on the Cowboys? I don't think he's sweating it.

Valuation in good times has little to do with what happens when an entity is under serious financial stress. I should look up the details of Jones' finances pertaining to the stadium if available to see how many more years he has to go with payments. The point remains that there are no guarantees when it comes to the NFL as far as 5,10, 15, or more years into the future. As some have said here the sports books may well have the ability to make fans want to show up there versus the stadium on Sunday. Further, I suspect that future fans in many current NFL may not be as dedicated to buying season tickets as the current batch of fans are. What happens when the inevitable happens in New England when going deep into the playoffs every year no longer happens every year? Success often breeds its own form of damnation.

bbb Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 How many people are not going to games or concerts because of how confusing tickets are these days? I really miss real tickets and not having to worry if things are valid, etc. I was just reading about yet another soccer game where a bunch of fans had all kinds of issues and couldn't get in. I know for Opening Day, MLB games were a mess as everybody's phones were not getting service with all the people around them at the gate. etc.

Another gentle reminder..SCREEN SHOTS OF TICKETS WILL NOT WORK THIS YEAR!!!!! So if your buddy is going to the game..he will Need the One Buffalo or ticketmaster app...bar codes or something will be changing like every 12 seconds Thats a heads up for when to leave for the gate at the opener..lots o dolts will get there with a screen shot..delaying everyone and sucking crazy bandwidth trying to app downloaded!! And your phone will be a tap and go now if in ticket in your wallet! That should be awesome! 1

What worked two years ago didn't work last year..................While cardboard tickets worked for 100 years. And, then if your phone isn't getting service at the gate, then what? The reason for the screen shots was to not have that be an issue. 1 2

They can’t use cardboard tix to force you to download an app, track your location or have you agree to terms that allow said app to harvest data to be used to sell you more crap. Duh! 2 1 1

The cash cow for the NFL is TV rights it hasn't been money taken in from the gate for a long time. That money ain't nothing, but TV contracts and advertising is where their money comes from. The NFL is smart, they have their CBA negotiations followed by the TV Contract negotiations so they know how to structure the TV negotiations based on the CBA... allows for creative accounting... I digress... the next big cash cow for the NFL Is going to be streaming availability of games on major services versus network TV. The NFL isn't stupid enough to end broadcast TV, which is the golden goose for them because it essentially brings games in to peoples homes for free allowing them to watch a limited amount of their "Content" free and stirring up demand for more. However as more people cut the cord and move to streaming services, and the NFL doesn't have a dedicated contractual streaming service, that's where the big money is going to be in their next round of negotiations. Also Sunday Ticket is also going to lose its exclusive rights with DirecTV... Do they sell streaming rights along with broadcast rights so companies like CBS, NBC, ESPN carry those games on their PAID streaming services? Does the NFL Create their own? Does the NFL part it out and include services like Hulu, Netflix, Prime? They've experimented with all the above over the past few years in preparation of how they want to tackle it going forward and how they can make the most money with it going forward.... the NFL is the best and squeezing a nickle until the buffalo poops... so I guarantee you they're doing EXTENSIVE studies into the best way to optimize their product on streaming... Remember they will still have games on broadcast so people can see local games, streaming would be a separate line item of revenue for them... Also all the content providers like ABC, NBC, CBS, Hulu, Disney+, Prime, Netflix, all of them are buying up content.... the NFL has thousands of hours of game footage, interviews, etc... they can sell all of that to streaming services so customers have the ability to consume that content.... the NFL makes a mint and it's up to the streaming services to figure out what they want to charge the customer to view it... How much more would you pay to get every game on your Hulu Subscription you already have? It's a very interesting wrinkle that could be an insanely big cash in for the NFL coming up... So while you're right, the gate will probably decrease, the NFL doesn't care about that... their money comes from elsewhere, they just need enough people in the lower bowls to look full for TV... and even that can be cleaned up now a days with CGI.

The reason for the screen shots was to not have that be an issue. It now has become a requirement to have cell phone to go to game and not just ANY cell phone but a cell phone you can add applications which do location tracking even after game. I wonder how this affects people whose cell service does not have roaming access with local providers? Must be tough for those from other countries like Canada. I know it was tough for us when we visited Hong Kong even after paying for a SIM card. Hoping this affects NFL sales big time. 1

For locals, maybe they can use those cutouts that were in the Brick Bar that had been used as "extras" in The Natural. 1

It’s not JUST because I’m a technologically inept old man, despite what @plenzmd1 will tell you! Even with the tech people they had at the stadium to help in Atlanta, it took until the 3rd or 4th guy to get all the settings right and get into the stadium. If their own tech people can’t figure it out, they just aren’t doing it right!!! ? . Edited July 31, 2019 by Augie 1 1

We have the self checkout lanes in local supermarkets and it often takes longer to go thru them then regular service lines. If it is not a money option give people opportunity to go to box office and get their ticket verified there. There are parking meters locally which only allow cell phone payments and reason stated was to save money from broken meters due to them being broken into to get change. Now they are having same problem and they determined that the issue was not being raided for money but people breaking them because they were not working and it was only way to get them replaced so they are repeating prior habits. 1
