Albany,n.y. Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 I go to the casino in Schenectady to bet football. I don't bet anything else at the casino. I'm very conservative in the number of bets I make in a season, but I bet decent amounts when I bet. I didn't bet anything in 2020 due to Covid. In 2019 I bet 5 Bills games & won 4 of them. I also bet futures on various win total overs & to reach the playoff. I won about $5,000 for the season. This year I'm 1 for 1 (bet the Miami game) & won $744. I also put future bets in on the LA Chargers to win 11 or more games (Over 10.5 wins) as well as over 9 wins at lower odds & the Bills to win the AFC. Quote
Pete Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 I worked at a casino for years. My favorite question to ask fellow employees - what was the craziest thing you have ever seen here? Oh man, tons of crazy stories I heard or saw Quote
qwksilver Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 I mainly play blackjack, craps and poker tournaments in person. We go to Vegas once a year or so (prior to pandemic). Here's my online poker story. I was about to quit (back in 2005) as the the last money of the 4th $100 deposit on Party Poker (took about 4 months to burn) was lost. I had a slew of points so I used them to enter a tourney that had a ticket to a tourney $200.00 buy-in. I won the ticket. The tourney was on a Sat night and I got to the computer 10 minutes late. There were 1200+ entries. At the money about 3 hours in, I was guaranteed $250.00. A few hours later I hit the final table in 7th out of 9th and was hoping to move up a couple of spots to maybe 5th. Well the deck hit in me in the face. When we were down to 3, I was the chip leader. I had KK on final hand a knocked out the last 2 for $58,444. What a rush! 1 2 Quote

I havent been to Vegas since two super bowls ago, pre Covid, but small tables are hard to find on the strip, especially on the weekends. You will get a few $10 or $15 minimum tables but a lot of them are $25 minimum. They took Osheas out a few years ago which always had small limit tables. Your best bet for finding small limit tables is probably going off the strip, maybe to the downtown section, not sure though. 1 Quote

Thanks. i want to go to a nice hotel but I don't want to risk thousands playing poker. I think that I'm a better than average blackjack player but the last few times I have been to a casino (which is very rare), a drunk will sit to the right of the dealer and screw up the game. One guy was hitting 17 when the dealer had a 6 showing. It turned me off to blackjack. Edited October 9, 2021 by Bill from NYC Quote

When I thik the Bills are a lock, I bet the game. I don't bet many because everything has to be right for me to bet a football game. I've only bet 6 Bills games since they legalized sports betting & the only game I lost was when Cincinnati made a game the Bills won closer than the spread. The best business decisions are the ones you have the most information about. For me that's Bills games. 1 Quote

Yeah you might have better luck downtown, I am not a big downtown guy, about 8 years my wife & I were in Vegas and she begged me to take her downtown as she was never there. We were walking on the sidewalk and I was looking up at this sign not paying attention and I ran right into about a 300 pound girl who looked like mortisha and had only a bikini bottom on and two pasties to cover her nipples and leather black boots that went up to her knee. I had nightmares for weeks and vowed never to go to the downtown part ever again. 1 Quote

Even in fancy hotels? I am going with my fiancee and she is allowing me one night to play poker, for which I am grateful lol but she wants to stay in a fancy place, which I am totally down with. The last time I played poker was a 1/5 game in Atlantic City and I kicked ass, but it was 7 card stud LOL!!! Still, I am confident that I would do well in a low stakes hold 'em game. Quote
AlCowlingsTaxiService Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Casinos? Chump change …. I’ve won nothing, but a couple weeks ago my stepson (who must have secretly had a horseshoe surgically implanted in his arse) won 150k on Draftkings Quote

boater Posted October 10, 2021 Posted October 10, 2021 I'm quasi-interested in casinos. The intellectual challenge of playing odds is very interesting. But to be shallow: the cigarette smoke gets to me. There is literally a cloud in every casino I have visited. What is it with gamblers and smoking? Is it OCD? Quote

You get the worst vices at casinos Gambling addicts, heavy smokers and alcoholics ... It usually all boils up to the house winning a lot of money Though there have been plenty of shrewd people who have carved out a niche and taken advantage of it 1 Quote
