My reunion is next month and I'm looking for a place to stay by the falls for a couple days.  I know NF is kind of sketchy but I'm looking for either a hotel, B&B or AirBnB.  We want something close the the falls and prefer a house.  If I was to go the house route which is what I'd prefer what is a good neighborhood?

Thanks and let the flaming begin.............

American side or Canadian? I was looking at AirBnB for a weekend with all my brothers in laws and there were a lot of nice houses available on the Canadian side, but we don’t want to deal with having to cross the border multiple times over a weekend.

That's what I'm thinking.  It looks like there are a lot more, and better, places on the Canadian side.  I don't plan on needing to cross the border while we're there.  So US first but am not against Canada.  I think the most important thing is nice neighborhood and close to the falls.

Honestly if your going to the Canadian side, best to stay on or as close to Clifton Hill as you can.

Those are both nice hotels and are right by the Falls (obviously) and right on Clifton Hill

Thanks.   BTW both links were the same hotel.   Oh and digging the currency conversion rate!

You could stay at the Seneca casino. It’s not Vegas,  but it’s solid. Not sure how the rates are in comparison to other hotels in the area. On occasion I’ll take the wife there for dinner and drinks, followed by me doing stuff to her face.

I second this.  Well, with the exception of doing stuff to Teef’s wife’s face of course.  That is, unless they’re into that type of thing ?

Niagara Crossing in Lewiston is your best bet.

Theres nothing up up there unfortunately. Agree with the stay in Canada if you can. Having said that, Niagara Crossing is decent and Lewiston has some decent bars and restraunts, and not too far from NF.

Yes - not a house, but a hotel. When I loooked for houses, they weren’t too good. Spent 3 summers up there for a week long sports camp (the kid,  not me, but we had to travel in as we don’t live in Buff any more).

To give you perspective, my usual haunt while traveling is Westin hotels. None in Niagara Falls.

I am confused by this thread. Is Chef just having a good chuckle at our expense?

if not, have no clue why you not do an Airbnb in downtown Buffalo. Speaking as a proud Falls native, it’s a freaking hell hole. Maybe someplace on the river close to NT be okay , outside o that stay in Buffalo. Way cooler, Uber be affordable, you be way happier

Here’s a spot close to the Falls on American side. Very quiet. Green space. Historical. Not a lot of bugs (or anything else that breathes). Plenty of garbage cans around. Bring a tent and live off the land. I’m thinking the cost will be cheap. The reviews I read online are glowing. Have fun!!

We were there the first week of June, and the Rainbow Bridge is a snap to cross.  Can't go to Buffalo without taking the Mrs to Niagara on the Lake.  We were driving but I expect pedestrian is OK too.  Lewiston and the Peace Bridge are not, due to truck traffic volume, and the fact that the US has moved some Customs inspectors to the southern border.  The US had 9-10 vehicle lanes open when we came back 12-1PM.

The Canadian dollar is on the weak side too.

I graduated from Niagara U in '69, and remember that when it was raining, and I was crossing between buildings, it was not unusual to see those rainbow/spectrum puddles, on the ground.  Like what you used to see at gas stations, or parking lots when it was raining.  That didn't bother the BILLS when they had training camp there. Guess it didn't bother me either because I'm still here.

We are not close to the falls at all but, you can stay at our house for free ???

only a 4 hour ride unless you have to stop and take a leak at every rest area. ?
