How many concerts are in the Buffalo area in Blizzard season?

No idea.

If they really want it downtown, it’s too bad they can’t find a way to make a football/hockey stadium. As the current Sabres arena is also in need of a rebuild. Personally, the idea I like the most is keeping New Era Field where it is. Either with a massive retrofit of the current stadium, or the building of a new stadium in an adjacent parking lot.

If I were Pegula I would really push for a Super Bowl to be guaranteed if I sink one billion into a domed stadium.

sounds like a great proposal

But the wine, cheese and PSL fans want smaller domed stadium so they can scalp their tickets to opposing fans!

Absolutely no chance of Superbowl in Buffalo. It does not have the hotel space required.

You might want to do some research on that

Barring a complete 25 year turnaround/resurgence, there will be no way Buffalo is ever considered for a Superbowl.

Although it would be funny to see all the high end celebs have to come to Buffalo in February

Why would they never be considered? As long as they meet the requirements they will be in the running. The only requirement we don’t meet is a domed stadium. Goodell said a few years back that if teams build a new stadium (indoor for northern cities) that the nfl will do everything they can to have those cities host a super bowl.

I wouldn't say no chance.

Hotel rooms wouldn't cost Buffalo in a future Super Bowl hosting bid

Roger Goodell noted that hotel rooms are the biggest hurdle in hosting a Super Bowl once you get the stadium. Buffalo does surprisingly well in this factor.

Niagara Falls has hotel rooms coming out of its ears. There are 16,000 on the Canadian side alone, according to the Niagara Falls tourism board. I thought the number was so astronomically high, I even called and confirmed it. Niagara County has another 4,000, per their tourism board. Within an hour of the current stadium, Buffalo has 29,000 hotel rooms. Add to that the 7,000 Monroe County has, according to the folks at VisitRochester.com, and the conversation isn't so laughable anymore with more than 36,000 hotel rooms within a little over an hour of the existing stadium site.

And there are a lot of hotels still under construction

There’s a link to the requirements in this article

no.  Not seriously considered.  There are many more requirements than just an indoor stadium.  Foremost, some kind of attraction to the area.  I like the place, but Big Ditch Brewery isn't enough to impress the NFL's high-end clientele.

There is also nowhere for the NFL to host all their pomp and circumstance throughout Superbowl week to 10 days

You also need about 25K hotel rooms.  We are more than 20K short of that

They require a couple golf courses and bowling alleys... Before you ask how they’re going to use a golf course in buffalo in February they used them in Indy, Detroit, Minnesota, and NYC.

Niagara Falls Canada is included if the stadium is downtown. There’s casinos, convention centers, bars and restaurants. What else is needed in the winter?

It would also be over a decade away if we build a new stadium. Do you think the area would suddenly rapidly regress after years of progress?

and increasing the stadiums capasity to 78,000,

I respectfully disagree. The best thing that ever happened to Rich Stadium (yeah I said it) is putting in REAL seats. I wish they'd eliminate the bleachers completely, reduce capacity, and charge me more due to it.

People, say it out loud:  You can buy a season ticket for this franchise for $350. I PAID $450 FOR FC CINCINNATI MLS TICKETS! THEY ARE DREADFUL!

If I still lived there I would pay up to $750 for those cheap seats without even thinking about it.

Toronto/Canada, Erie, Rochester.......plenty of people have to drive 1.5 hours from a SB location to attend the festivities.

You're telling me that Jacksonville, who brought in a DAMN CRUISE SHIP for "hotel" rooms, would be more deserving for an SB than WNY? Disagreed (respectfully of course).

It seems majority of the fanbase that post here believe prices that high would price them out. IMO raising season tickets to that price would make it so they can get a better stadium downtown with a domed roof. A new stadium means limited tailgating and on Bills lots. No more private lots like Hammers, which will limit some of the crazy drunks.

A new stadium with lots of craft brews and better food would be a good start. WNY needs to get away from their love of bad cheap beer like Blue and Genny.

So you want all the headaches but to ship most of the revenue to Canada?

Buffalo just isn’t a super bowl city - and that’s ok. In fact, it’s a big part of why most of you enjoy it

as stated prior Neither is Jacksonville .  except for the mild weather

and we can still argue the same for Minnesota

I heard people had a good time for the most part but if you didn't have a set place to "party" bar hopping was impossible.

To travel to Canada you need passports or those NYS resident ID's.

how many average football fans have passports?

Minneapolis/St Paul is 10x 'better' than Buffalo as far as being a 21st century, affluent city.

I love Buffalo and often defend the region.  But thoughts of a Superbowl here is laughable.  Will Cardi B hang out at the Labatt House?

The bigger question is, do they remain in Orchard Park or move the team downtown where a number of Pegula owned properties and investments stand to benefit.  I will bet anything that if all things were equal, it would be the latter

That's the only reason for building a downtown stadium?  Oh brother!

There’s the same things in Canada in Buffalo.  Maybe a few more wax museums over there though.

I was more saying that canada was included in the area not suggesting everyone go over there and spend money. It was poorly structured.

It it doesn’t have to be like NOLA or Miami. It just needs to meet requirements and Buffalo would with a new indoor stadium

How many Americans have passports? Do they not want to leave their country?

Cardi B and the Kardashians can stay away and I'd be all that much happier for it

only 36 percent of Americans hold a valid passport, according to the State Department, compared to 60 percent of passport-holding Canadians

That means almost 70 percent of Americans are unqualified for international travel.

Of those 36 percent of Americans lets say 50% are football fans.  that gives us about 18%.

I get it that Toronto is the largest city in Canada, but that would be like putting the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Colorado.

My guess - The main significance of a Dome would be to draw a SB bid like Minny does.

hopefully a Feb w/o a blizzard

Even with a dome; I don’t see a SB happening in Buffalo. The city has some more lodging available, but not enough. The other problem; what do fans do the week of the super bowl? Not like we have a Mall of America. Personally, I feel the big belongs in warm weather where people can make a nice vacation out of it. Just my opinion thou.

Truth be told,  Neither do I.

BUT

the point is ..  when the NFL makes a commitment then the Bills can make their commitment

I was still surprised that Minny got another one  (probably because they were forced to build a new stadium due to the roof)
