Ford may be a tackle, but he may also start at guard - to me that would make waddle a lock. I just don't think Waddle is very good and I could easily see them keeping Sirles who they like and who has that position flex to play inside and outside that McDermott talks about.

Waddle seems like a bit of an unknown quantity. We could do a lot worse than Dawkins/Nsekhe/Ford at tackles, even if Ford is initially put at guard. But, Waddle has to better than Sirles!

Well i mean if the starting 5 is Dawkins - Spain - Morse - Ford - Nsehke Long/Bodine sticks as the active swing guard/backup center on gamedays, and you can honestly bring in feliciano because ford theoretically functions as a swing tackle if the starting tackles go down mid-game. They have a few options for the last 2. Depnds how much they like teller, and Wesley/Boettger.

I think he either starts at right tackle this year or they ease him in as the season goes along. I'd be stunned if he lined up as a starter opening day at guard. They want him to play tackle and have been very open about it. I think the "we can always try him at guard down the line" meant beyond his rookie year. 1

As far as the starting five goes, I think the only lock at any given position is Morse at center. Everything else is TBD. Edited May 29, 2019 by Rocky Landing

As the regulars among you will recall this isn't just a projection of who makes the roster this is a bit more nuanced. It is trying to categorise the locks, the likelies and the hopefuls. Here is my first stab at categorising the players currently on the Bills' 2019 roster (missed a few out who I consider basically no-hopers but if one flashes I will add in later updates). BLACK - Guaranteed roster spot (excluding major injury or suspension) BLUE - Probable roster spot RED - Fighting for those last few spots All clear? Then let us begin.... Quarterback Josh Allen Matt Barkley Tyree Jackson Running Back LeSean McCoy Devin Singletary Frank Gore Patrick DiMarco T.J Yeldon Marcus Murphy Christian Wade Senorise Perry Tight End Tyler Kroft (remember this is excluding major injury - chance he is IR'd very little chance he is flat out released) Dawson Knox Lee Smith Tommy Sweeney Jason Croom Wide Receivers John Brown Cole Beasley Robert Foster Zay Jones Andre Roberts Isaiah McKenzie Duke Williams David Sills Ray-Ray McCloud Nick Easley Cam Phillips Offensive Line Dion Dawkins Mitch Morse Cody Ford Ty Nsekhe Quinton Spain Jon Feliciano Spencer Long Russell Bodine LeAdrian Waddle Vlad Ducasse Wyatt Teller Conor McDermott Jerimiah Sirles De'Ondre Wesley Ike Boettger Defensive Line Ed Oliver Harrison Phillips Star Lotulelei Jerry Hughes Trent Murphy Jordan Phillips Shaq Lawson Eddie Yarbrough Eli Harold Mike Love Darryl Johnson Terrence Fede Robert Thomas Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds Matt Milano Vosean Joseph Lorenzo Alexander Maurice Alexander Julian Stanford Deon Lacey Tyrel Dodson Corey Thompson Cornerback Tre'Davious White Levi Wallace EJ Gaines Taron Johnson Kevin Johnson Ryan Lewis Lafayette Pitts Denzel Rice Cam Lewis Safety Jordan Poyer Micah Hyde Rafael Bush Jaquan Johnson Siran Neal Dean Marlowe Special Teams Stephen Hauschka Reid Ferguson Cory Carter Corey Bojorquez Chase McLoughlin Before anyone raises it - yes - one of the two punters will likely make the team. But I don't know that either has a leg up at this early stage, both are coming off long term injury and it isn't beyond the realm of possibility they end up bringing in a guy a week or so before the season as they did last year. For these reasons I don't think you can call either of them "probable" at this stage. They are the very definition of battling for a roster spot. That gives me: 31 locks; 13 probables; 9 spots very much up for grabs. Thought interesting to do a comparison with where we were when I started this thread last year (which was later it was the eve of camp so not quite a like for like comparison but close enough). Last year I had: 28 locks; 15 probables; 10 spots up for grabs. Of my 28 locks last year 27 made the 53 (Colton Schmidt didn't though obviously did end up back here for a spell in the course of the season) and of my 15 probables the only two that didn't - AJ McCarron and Marshall Newhouse - were traded away. Okay TBD.... as you always do.... let me have it! No reason to pull any punches with you...you could be a defensive cord at some college.I respect you and I always look forward to your posts. thanks for your educated thoughts about this football team..I'm with you 90% of the time.
Freddie's Dead Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 You got my boys Charlie Murphy, McKittrick, and Cale Yarbrough on the cut line, say it ain't so! No way BoyToy gets cut at TE as long as he's going out with a Pegula. I love LoMo at LB, can't wait to see it on the field!
ProcessAccepted Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 I don't think that Andre Roberts a probable. Should be a red. Sills and Duke Williams have as good a chance as him to make the team.

That said the videos from camp yesterday Roberts looked like he was moving in slow motion. If he has lost a yard he will quickly fall into the red zone. That said at the moment he is the most likely return man and therefore probable makes the team on that basis.
Rocky Landing Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 I think they will keep four DEs. I would think Murphy, and Lawson both make the 53, but are rotated quite a bit. I think Yarbrough would be the most likely fourth DE.

I know he's a return specialist, but I can't seen them giving up a wr spot without some serious thought if he doesn't offer more. WR is where they are going to have some really difficult decisions. Such a change from last year having so many options.

Yea but in order for that to be the case they'd have to play him there in practice. I know they are all about cross training guys, but I think it is really unlikely that they ask a rookie for whom things are still happening at 100 miles an hour to cross train at guard and tackle. Much more likely that they keep him at right tackle and try and get him as much experience as they can there and get him ready to start. Want an example? Go back two years to Dawkins. They started with him at RT. Cordy got injured at the start of camp they switched Dawkins to left tackle and then they left him there even though Cordy came back towards the end of camp and was healthy to start the season. They didn't flip him back to practicing at right tackle and as a result they started Mills as the right tackle. Was Mills a better tackle than Dion? Was he in their "best 5"? I'd argue not but it is about how you bring along a rookie. My strong suspicion is that the only position Ford starts on this Bills line in 2019 is at right tackle. 2
