Mister Defense Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 He seemed like he was missing that edge, sometimes seeming lackadaisical even in big games. Maybe a bit like Bledsoe? He was a good player, very good maybe, but not an NFL Hall of Fame caliber player. 1

C.Biscuit97 Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 No but he had a better career (better number than Jim Kelly) than most people realize. Always seemed to come up short in big spots thought. And if TO was such a selfish prick, they could have be a special combo. Also, he stole pizza from me at Syracuse football camp. That alone disqualifies him. 6 hours ago, oldmanfan said: Not even close to being worthy https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McNaDo00.htm https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/K/KellJi00.htm

I think he and McNabb had basically the same level of impact on a game. Big Ben has two Super Bowl rings, three AFC titles, engineered a game winning drive in a Super Bowl, and almost pulled off a Super Bowl comeback drive against Green Bay. McNabb puked in the Super Bowl. Literally https://www.philly.com/philly/sports/eagles/Yes_McNabb_puked_at_Super_Bowl_ex-fullback_says.html Edited May 25, 2019 by /dev/null

In fairness, these are the same fans who booed when McNabb was drafted because they wanted Ricky Williams (how did that one work out for Mike Ditka?). That said, I agree with the many who have already stated that McNabb belongs in the 'Hall of Very Good'. To me, he was the precursor to an Andy Dalton type...good enough to keep you competitive but not good enough to take you to 'The Promised Land'. 1

Kelly was kinda terrible in the playoffs. It wasnt to put down Kelly but McNabb is much closer to Kelly than some folks will admit here. He had a very good career. Not HOF but very good. To completely dismiss him is wrong. 18 hours ago, LSHMEAB said: He averaged roughly 23 TD's and 10 picks a season in a pass happy Andy Reid offense. He was a solid runner, but he also took a ton of sacks behind a decent line. Much of that can be attributed to his subpar offensive weapons, but he held on to the ball way too long for my taste. Maybe better than good all things considered, but not a HOF'er. Fair or not, a Superbowl win would probably give him a stronger case, so I agree with you there. Fair points. I also remember besides that year with TO he had some garbage receivers - James Thrash, Freddie Mitchell. Absolute trash for a while. 1

I think McNabb is better than Dalton (went to a Sb and like 4 title games) but also feel Dalton gets slighted. If Allen had Dalton’s career stat wise, I think we would take it.
auburnbillsbacker Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 If Eli gets in McNabb should get in. He was better.

I was young for the Aikman years and thought he was much better than he ended up being. His numbers kinda sucked. But he played on one of the most loaded teams of all time.
