Leinart would've been the top overall pick after his junior year, slipped to #10 (still first round) after his senior year, and finished his career as the sacrificial starting QB in the Bills' last preseason game one season. The media built Barkley up as being the "#1 pick in 2 years" as a freshman. Even going into his senior year he was the betting favorite to win the Heisman and the media still billed him as the sure top guy. Leinart qualifies certainly, but Barkley is a much more extreme example.
