Which trade do you prefer?

I think both Rudolph and Bell make more sense from the Bills point of view. We just handed Jerry Hughes a 20 mill extension - so dont want to tie up even more money on the DL with Clowney.

Bell and Clowney are hard nos because of the draft picks.

While I love a running game , we have a potential monster QB and we all know a young QBs favorite security blanket.

I like the topic. I voted for Rudolph as it is a little more low key. He’s an average NFL TE but with the Kroft injury he raises the floor. Even if Kroft comes back in a reasonable amount of time he and Rudolph are okay. It will give Knox some time to develop. 

 

I might chase Clowney in FA but don’t want to give up the assets.

Rudolph in particular makes the most sense. I think a lot depends on how positions look during camps and pre-season. Could see trades in August. This regime has done that before, I wouldn’t be surprised to see one again, but this time in order to add as opposed to the last time when they were dismantling (Watkins Trade). 

 

I thibk the Bell idea is far fetched for two reasons:

1. I don’t see the Jets trading a guy they just gave a bunch of guaranteed money to before he even plays a down for them. After this season? Possible. Now? No way. 

 

2. Buffalo has 3 running backs who have played & started significantly in the league and spent a 3rd Round Pick on Singletary. I don’t see them making another move for another back, even if Shady is cut.

McCoy has played well for us and by all accounts is great in the locker room. It is very clear from their on field interactions that McCoy and Allen get along famously.

 

Why is it that every day there is a new way to get rid of him?  It's ridiculous.

No offense, but none of the above. I don’t want the “last guy”, I want the “next guy”. I get the arguments against that line of thought, but I don’t want to over-pay for under production. There’s a reason they may be available.

Clowney would transform this defense from good to potentially DOMINANT. We don't know what's going to happen with the offense, but I think the pieces are in place for Allen to have a DECENT year. You can win a lot of games with a decent offense and a dominant defense. You won't win a Superbowl, but the playoffs are there for the taking. If this team makes that playoff leap with Allen at QB, it portends good things for the future. Bell is not going to be special outside of Pitt IMO. Rudolph is meh. Clowney would give the Bills the best shot to make the playoffs NOW, and I think that's important for this team.

the idea of Oliver, Hughes and Clowney on the same DL is mouth watering for sure.

For comparison sake, Frank Clark just got the Seahawks a 1st, 2nd and swap of 3rds. 

 

I would think that Clowney would be atleast as valuable as Clark if not more valuable.

In regards to this and the poll, with the prices listed in the OP, I would be fond of both Clowney and Rudolph. 

 

However, with what I think it would take to acquire Clowney — atleast a 1st and a 3rd — I’d rather trust what seems to be a revamped scouting department with that capital than part with the draft picks.  However, that’s not to say I would be disappointed if we went out and traded for Clowney, I would buy into the excitement.  I just personally as a GM would not advocate that trade.

I agree on Clowney. Even though many (including myself) say wait until August or the season to play out...he would be a monstrous addition to the defense. Even without high sack numbers, he is disruptive and good against the run. A few analysts (we know) even suggested that the Bills should trade for Clowney now instead of waiting for the draft to address the need at DE. And yes a 1st rounder is suggested.

I mean none of the above really. But the only one that has the potential to radically change the team is Clowney. So I voted for him.

 

At tight end I have always been a Rudolph fan and I understand the attraction to that trade because with Kroft out we are certainly lacking a two way tight end. But personally I would want to give all the reps and opportunity in OTAs, camp, and the early pre-season games to Knox and Sweeney. Let's see if one of these guys develops more quickly. Rudolph is the sort of guy who if I still have no solution 2 weeks before the season I might throw a pick at.
