But it is starting to become evident that there is no quick remedy to this plague. I don't foresee a resumption of hockey for this season, and that includes a version of the playoffs. It's not even certain if a normal scheduled hockey season will happen next season. This virus is going to reside within a segment of the population for a long time. And that will result in the necessity to continue on with some form of social distancing. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/03/u-s-coronavirus-plan-pandemic-will-last-over-18-months.html As an introvert bookworm, social distancing is my preferred lifestyle anyway.

What is up eventually comes down. What is thought to be unfashionable by the people who are fashionable turns out to be fashionable by the unfashionable people. Or another way of putting it is that what some people consider to be uncool behavior is not only cool behavior but may also enhance your longevity. 1
plenzmd1 Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 Sorry i don't know how to post an image, but this certainly applies to our beloved Sabres 1
BillsFan4 Posted March 19, 2020 Author Posted March 19, 2020 Looking forward to this! They will be aired on MSG, and then posted to the Sabres YouTube channel the following day.
plenzmd1 Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Pegulas not helping themselves in the public eye with the way they are handling this crisis. I think the Athletic may be making some their content for free, but if you cannot get will post some snippets. https://theathletic.com/1689857/2020/03/20/pegula-sports-entertainment-lays-off-hospitality-workers-at-buffalo-properties/ Quote As a valuable asset to our hospitality family when business returns to normalcy, we encourage you to come back and apply for an open position. You will be amongst the first considered to re-join our teams,” Dominic Verni, the vice president of hospitality, wrote in the termination letter obtained by The Athletic. Quote Even if the employees are rehired and return to work, there has been no guarantee they’ll come back at their same rate of pay. In addition, the organization is not paying out the Paid Time Off (PTO) that employees have accrued, citing a clause in their separation policy, according to a laid-off supervisor from the hospitality team. Quote An arena exception is concession workers, who are employed by Delaware North. The Buffalo-based hospitality giant has not announced any plans for its workers, drawing nationwide criticism. Many sports owners have stepped in and will pay those concessions staffers, too. But the Pegulas have stayed on the sidelines, which is noticeable because they launched the aforementioned “One Buffalo” campaign after buying the Sabres and Bills. At the program’s inception, they promised it would serve as a “representation of teamwork and a deeper connection between Buffalo sports teams, fans and the community.” There are now doubts as to whether the connection is real.
JohnC Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 The attached link is a column by Bill Hoppe from the Buffalo News. It's subject is Jonas Johansson and his experience as a call up. The Sabres have a number of young goalie prospects in its system but they have a way to go before being called up on a long term basis. The biggest issue right now is whether Ullmark is a #1 goalie. What is known for sure is that he has moved ahead of Hutton as our primary goalie. https://buffalonews.com/2020/03/19/buffalo-sabres-rochester-americans-jonas-johansson-goaltending-prospects/?view=getnewpost

BillsFan4 Posted March 23, 2020 Author Posted March 23, 2020 Ralph Krueger is going to be on the instigators today (at 11am I think). Should be a pretty interesting listen I bet. He is back overseas and has family just outside the quarantine zones in Italy iirc. He has some interesting thoughts on this back on March 9th in an athletic article interview (and many thought he was being an alarmist at the time...). https://theathletic.com/1665553/2020/03/09/as-global-markets-sound-alarms-ralph-krueger-forecasts-paradigm-shift-in-society/ (sub req.)
BillsFan4 Posted March 23, 2020 Author Posted March 23, 2020 (edited) Sabres vs Devils 1994 semi final is airing on MSG in a few minutes (8pm)l Its cool getting to see hasek play again. Edited March 24, 2020 by BillsFan4
JohnC Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 The Sabres signed another college free agent player. I was going to add the Krueger on the Instigator Show link but decided not to because there wasn't much about the Sabres on it. The second half of the interview dealt with his experience playing against the famous Russian team and his familiarity with the players and coach. 1

The below WGR link is the Krueger interview on the Instigators. This is the segment that I referred to in the prior post. The second half of the interview deals with his relationship with the Russian team and staff. It seems that his belief in the five on one philosophy (forward line and defense pairing working as a unit) has a Russian origin. https://wgr550.radio.com/media/audio-channel/03-23-sabres-head-coach-ralph-krueger The next link is a column by WGR's Paul Hamilton about Krueger and the immediate aftermath in Montreal when he and the team learned that the season was going to be stopped due to the virus. https://wgr550.radio.com/articles/news/sabres-krueger-hopes-to-continue-the-season Edited March 24, 2020 by JohnC 1
JohnC Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 The attached link is an article by Lance Lysowski of the BN. This article is about Dylan Cozens and his early return home from the juniors because of the virus. According to the article Dylan could have played for Rochester if the AHL playoffs would have been held. It also noted that he wouldn't be able to play for Rochester when the season started next year because he didn't meet the age criteria. I don't understand the inconsistency in the age requirement between being able to play in the playoffs this year and not being able to play in Rochester next year? He playing in the juniors next year will not do him much good from a development standpoint. I'm confident that he will earn a spot on the roster with the Sabres next year. Dylan, Tage and Kahun will all be with the big club next season. (I can't say for sure about Mittelstadt.) I also strongly suspect that Risto or another defenseman will be dealt to add another forward. Steadily the GM is remaking the roster. https://buffalonews.com/2020/03/24/buffalo-sabres-lethbridge-hurricanes-dylan-cozens-nhl-whl-news-2020/ 1
BillsFan4 Posted March 24, 2020 Author Posted March 24, 2020 Last game at the Aud is on MSG tonight at 8pm. They are showing games all week at 8pm.
BillsFan4 Posted March 25, 2020 Author Posted March 25, 2020 It’s cool hearing a younger RJ call a game again.
BillsFan4 Posted March 25, 2020 Author Posted March 25, 2020 (edited) https://buffalonews.com/2020/03/23/buffalo-sabres-dominik-hasek-nhl-msg-nbcsn-new-jersey-devils/ Quote Wednesday – The 10-0 start: The 3-0 win at the New York Islanders on Oct. 26, 2006, that allowed the Sabres to tie the NHL record for the best record from the season's opening faceoff with the 1993 Toronto Maple Leafs. Thursday – The 9/11 game: The 5-4 overtime loss against the New York Rangers on Oct. 7, 2001, in Madison Square Garden, the first regular-season game in New York after the 9/11 attacks. Friday – The 'Who Else' game: The 2-1 overtime victory over the Rangers on May 4, 2007. It was a Game 5 thriller from the second round that produced another classic Rick Jeanneret call on Chris Drury's tying goal with 7.7 seconds left in regulation. Quote Meanwhile, NBC Sports Network is starting 12-hour presentations of great NHL playoff games and Winter Classics today at 3 p.m. in what the network is dubbing "Hockey Week in America." Programming will also stream on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app. From Monday through Thursday, games will run from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. focusing on a specific theme of the last 10 years. From Friday through Sunday, the games will run from 8 p.m. to 3 p.m. The themes are as follows: (click on link to article) Quote The Sabres are featured in only one of these groupings. At 8 p.m. on Wednesday, the network will air the 2008 Winter Classic against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the snow at Ralph Wilson Stadium. On Friday night at 8, former Sabres goalie Ryan Miller is one of the featured performers during a re-airing of the 2010 Olympic gold medal game between Team USA and Team Canada. Of course, Miller was beaten for the winning goal in both games by Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby. plenzmd1 Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 ^^^^ @BillsFan4, i have not watched the replays yet, but they did autorecord. Saw on the Twitter they had to take out the fights from the last Aud game, and could not show the post game ceremony...not the Sabres fault but those were the best parts of the last game at the Aud. Wont make a lot of sense to shows the Sens brawl game if they cant show fights 1
ChevyVanMiller Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 Gotta keep smiling. Stay healthy everyone. 4
