BillsFanNC Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Howard's new book about his interviews out today. Oh and I'll cover the obligatory "Howard hasnt been funny in years and I dont listen anymore" post.
Fr. Jerk Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 I haven't listened since he got thrown off regular radio but I miss those days so much.
RaoulDuke79 Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 I gave up after he went to 3 days a week. I read a pretty lengthy interview he did recently and he really appears to have moved away from the shock jock interview style. He seems to really have some regrets about how he treated some of his guests, especially Robin Williams. One of my favorite parts of the show was when Robin did her news stories and Fred played the clips of Jackie laughing during the sad stories. 4 1

I know she was in fragile shape before hand but many people believe her appearance on his show literally killed her

Just maybe Davis might decide to stay? Randolph, Davis and Zion would make a formidable front court. If Davis is determined to leave then he can be dealt for a lot of assets.

He’s still leaving because he’s a beta but Zion and AD trade assets is a good start.

I can relate.

US Egg Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Howard is a tool for LW media now more than ever during his career.
The Poojer Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 I also stopped listening 2 or so years ago once he started becoming Hollywood elite. There's no denying his interview skills. He was on CBS Sunday morning and I thought it was an excellent segment
LabattBlue Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 I still listen, but his show is maddening. - only on 3 days a week - tons and tons of archives to choose from, but “sternthology” is limited and no effort put into filling 4 days a week with unique archives. - I hate the long winded star f***ing interviews. - therefore I have no interest in the book. - the things from years ago, that made the show great, are sorely missed. ? - I may cancel, and signup again when he is within a few months of retirement, hoping that he goes out with a bang. 1
BillsFanNC Posted May 15, 2019 Author Posted May 15, 2019 I enjoyed the old Stern just as much as the next guy, but should it really surprise anyone that he has evolved? A Stern at 65 years old still having an endless parade of strippers, lesbians and porn stars in studio and using his guests as props instead of actually interviewing them would be an extremely tired schtick at this point and incredibly sad. 2
The Poojer Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Good point. His whining also got old for me, I know it's all schtick, but it really gets old 3 minutes ago, BillsFanNC said: I enjoyed the old Stern just as much as the next guy, but should it really surprise anyone that he has evolved? There is a happy medium. Even look at how the wrap up show was neutered. At one time the staff could go on the show and it was great. Then Howie put his foot down, and banned them all from going on. Now the show is boring beyond belief. Repeat guests like Richard Simmons, Gilbert Gottfried, George Takei, Sam Kinison, and many others made for great radio. Now who do you get on the guest couch? ??? Edited May 15, 2019 by LabattBlue 1
apuszczalowski Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 All I have seen recently are article about how he has become friends with celebrities he has had feuds in the past with (Rosie O'Donnell, Wendy Williams), he is apologizing for it and saying how great they are and they are friends.
teef Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 (edited) it's still a good show. it's really all about the interviews and who they have on that draws me in, but i still find that show funnier that any other talk morning show out there. the local ones are trash. Edited May 15, 2019 by teef 1
