Formerly Allan in MD Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 I believe we have a receivers coach and a TE with 4 years experience, which certainly qualifies as "veteran experience."
US Egg Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 (edited) The NFL ratio of coaches to players likely is the highest of any other Pro sport. ...though I've seen youth hockey teams with higher ratios with wanna be coaches/Dads. The trend is growing more coaches are needed to win but has not been proven to be an absolute. Here is the breakdown of coaches per team for 2018: (Warning ! This might be painful for some to read.) Bills – 28 49ers – 27 Browns – 26 Eagles – 26 Saints – 25 Raiders – 25 Cowboys – 24 Jaguars – 24 Rams – 24 Seahawks – 24 Buccaneers – 24 Titans – 24 Packers – 23 Redskins – 23 Cardinals – 22 Bears – 22 Broncos – 22 Colts – 22 Dolphins – 22 Jets – 22 Lions – 21 Texans – 21 Chargers – 21 Vikings – 21 Giants – 21 Falcons – 20 Panthers – 20 Bengals – 20 Chiefs – 20 Ravens – 19 Steelers – 17 Patriots – 14 (source:https://www.headcoachranking.com/inside-numbers-nfl-coaching-staffs/) Edited May 11, 2019 by I am the egg man 1

That's almost one coach for every two players.

Saxum Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 1 hour ago, Gugny said: Sweet Jesus. That's almost one coach for every two players. The choosing of what members of staff are coaches is questionable. For Chiefs "Statistical Analysis Coordinator" is listed as a coach. Trainers used to be listed separately but for that article they grouped them into coaches and per NFLPA they are not coaches hence why they can work with players during certain phases of voluntary camps. 4 hours ago, Gugny said: Why, pray tell, do so many people think that EVERY FORMER NFL PLAYER IS A COACHING CANDIDATE???????? Well I have not heard anyone mention Billy Joe Tolliver as a coaching candidate and he has LOTS of experience other than reading playbooks. I think you are exaggerating slightly. 3 hours ago, OldTimeAFLGuy said: ...so I assume that is a no no as far as Manziel coaching Josh??...just askin'............. Someone said EVERY PLAYER so I guess that is a maybe. 1
without a drought Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 I wonder how Mike Ditka is doing...he is a former TE and head coach.

GreggTX Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 (edited) And don't count Sweeney out. He has great hands and is a decent blocker. If he learns to runs routes well, he could be a factor. We may not have any 1 guy that is probowl caliber in 2019, but maybe soon after. I agree that these young TE's need more reps. Edited May 11, 2019 by GreggTX
