He was ultra-productive during his time in North Carolina, earning first-team FCS All-American honors and the MEAC Defensive Player of the Year award after racking up 50 tackles and finishing among the FCS leaders with 19 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks in 12 games (11 starts). Johnson was a first-team All-MEAC selection in 2017, starting 12 games and posting 40 tackles, 15.5 for loss, 6.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles.
