Who is the huge dude in the blue shirt that dwarfs Ed.  Can we draft him too?

The defense ISNT EVEN BROKEN lol.....it was a top 10 NFL defense last season.....Oliver might get it to 5

Would not have a problem if every single pick from here on out was offense......

Oliver will be fine. Now some more help on the edge. Let's see what the Bills do. So many good players left on both sides of the ball.

I like the pick ... I will predict that the book on him, however, will be to run right at him and wear him down.  How the D handles that strategy will go a long way towards his success

DL rotation?  I think thatll be fine.  Put Phillips in for 40% of the snaps like they are planning to.

Compare the two DTs--the one walking through the door above and the guy a few posts back sneezing into his sleeve--and tell me which one looks more physically and mentally ready for the NFL....

I'm still a little shocked we took Oliver. He seems like the opposite of a McD guy. A highly touted recruit with attitude problems. I always get a little nervous taking someone really high and immediately asking him to play a different position than what got him there. How often does that work? This feels like a huge gamble.

I'd be more concerned if I didn't have so much faith in McD. Trust the process, I guess.

Yeah. Oliver took exception to his coach trying to rip his jacket off on the sidelines. Clearly a bad apple.

I mean I can only see this two ways really either in their talks with him in the draft process they're confident it was a non issue or they're just confident that the culture they've created will be able to absorb it. I mean the defense is basically all back from last year as opposed to the offense.

More seriously...he's fast, with a good burst, but light.  No small chance he gets swallowed up by interior linemen in the pros.

But on the other hand...between him and Edmunds, the Bills have some freakish athletic talent up the middle of the defense.  If Oliver can use his speed to shed blocks and/or draw double-teams and make Edmunds freer to make plays, the middle of the defense could be very strong.

Opponents are in trouble.  They have to deal with Stars big Ass.  How are they suppose to double Hughes, Star and Oliver.

I probably should say triple team for Hughes.  2 offensive players and one game official.

So I'm super-excited about this pick, and Oliver is a monster.  He also looks like he's genuinely excited to be a Bill.

That being said...I think a valid question is, "as this pick relates to our overall defense, did we really get better on D, or just replace Kyle Williams?"  Oliver seems to have all the same traits- high motor, lightning quick off the ball, good technique, undersized.  What's the difference that's going to make our D better than it was with Kyle?

Oliver graded out as a Elite run defender

I love Meatball......one of my all time favorite bills....the fact is Kyle Williams play was slipping the last 2 years...he was NOT the player he once was and he never graded out as a Elite run defender.

We improved......and then you have Horrible Harry in his second year to go along with him and two other NFL veteran starter DT's in the stable.

The other part is we don't have the meatball now.  So we needed someone in order just to maintain what we had with him else we were slipping.  I agree young Oliver could be an upgrade over Williams from last year.
