d_wag Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 (edited) With the oline signings (all 6 of them, including a natural LT in Ty) and the blunt comments on Dawkins regressive ‘18 season (from both himself and the bills) starting to wonder if bills view him as a true 2nd contract guy. Hence knowing the draft chart says making a jump like this in the top 10 is worth a 2nd round value who says no to 9th overall and Dawkins for 5th overall? why the bills like this - they get Williams or Oliver, the dominant 3T this defense needs and is the one position they didn’t address in FA cause I think they really want a stud here to be their kawaan short and that’s hard to find in FA. In this scenario Ty slots in at LT, Waddle at RT, competition and future year starters added at tackle in later rounds (as early as 2nd), bills keep all picks in this deal of course so keeps open option of trading back up to late first why the bucs like this - Dawkins would slot in at RT or RG, both weak spots for the bucs now, and put them in position to still land a stud LB (one of the devin’s) they want in the heart of their D Edited April 23, 2019 by d_wag 1 1 2
RiotAct Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 I wouldn’t do it. Dawkins is a solid player at an important position, despite some struggles last year. 7
Guest K-GunJimKelly12 Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 (edited) He is the youngest talented lineman on the roster. Mitch Morse, Dawkins, maybe Teller or Spain and whoever you draft going forward is your line in two years. We have done a lot to address the offensive line issues on this team going forward but we don't have the horses to be trading our best lineman by far under the age of 25. We should keep Dawkins and still draft a lineman on day 1 or 2 imo. Edited April 23, 2019 by K-GunJimKelly12

How about letting the young LT become a top LT. Put it an adequate LG next to Dawkins and watch what happens to him. Edited April 23, 2019 by MAJBobby 5
Simon Says Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 (edited) Dawkins probably missed Incognito; had to play next to the likes of Ducasse and Teller. A new LG (Spain? Long?) and a new O Line coach should help dawkins his head straight. he is making less than a million per year to play LT, and is under contract for 2019 and 20. Why give up that kind of value? CBD Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Dawkins value on the open market is maybe a 4th round pick? Team at 5th overall says no. 1
formerlyofCtown Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Probably the team with the 5th overall pick.
4BillsintheBurgh Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 If they didn't want to give him a chance I think they would have moved him by now.
Buffalo Boy Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 I say no. Hes one of the ones I think can continue to get better. This team finally has the chance to put a top 5( Yeah, I said it) O line together with a little luck( health) and a good draft. Dawkins is part of that rotation. 1
Rob's House Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 If you throw in Edmunds too maybe we can get to #3. 7
Coach Tuesday Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Sure - if this franchise is trying to set some sort of record for trading away good LTs.

dpberr Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 The idea is an ok one - but it's a no from me. Juan Castillo coached the offensive line last year and I'm entirely convinced he's nightmarishly inept at doing that to a satisfactory level.
