Everyone seems to ignore this need.  No sense chronicling the age of our current backs or the reality of ham string pulls, sprained ankles or the rest. We need a young back with break-away speed to change the pace.  WHO after Round #3 ?

Honestly, there is no way to know until the draft starts falling.  All it takes is a run on RB's to up the urgency to grab one.  Then again, the draft is so deep at OL, DL, CB, WR, and TE that RB's may slide.  How many teams really need an early RB around the league too?

So yeah I think its possible we can wait til round 4 or later.  But if they start flying off the board, then it may be harder to get one.

Also, lets all keep in mind, this is ONE offseason.  We have next years FA and Draft too for filling holes.  So if we dont get a RB this year that is a potential full time starter for 2020, then we can target one next year in the draft or FA or both.

It's not a great year for rb. Next yr when maybe D'Andre Swift and Travis Etienne are available is likely much better. So, if a fella you like is there in the 4th okay, but I wouldn't use a pick before then.

I would not be at all surprised if we take a RB in rounds 3-4. Let them learn how to be a pro and pick up a blitz behind a couple of HOF guys.

It’s a pretty lame class.  Waiting til next year could be in the plans.  There’s 5-6 guys I think represent good value in rd 4+

They can wait until 2020 to draft a highly ranked RB and maybe just draft someone to challenge for a spot behind Shady in 2019.

I'd love to see Henderson in Bills blue next year, though. Let's see what he can do at this level. Memphis isn't Alabama, but he sure is fun to watch.

I will be greatly surprised if there is a RB selected before day 3 of the draft.  As others have pointed out, this isn't a great year for RB prospects.  I believe that Beane is comfortable with McCoy and Gore for this year.  It makes sense to have the heir apparent on the roster for a year before they have to be the main guy but they may not see it that way.

Teams are concerned with Bryce Love's ACL injury and how it's going to heal.  Take him in the 4th or 5th and stash him this year and let him be ready to compete for playing time in 2020 when the RB position will need a revamp

Darrell Henderson Id guess would be a round 3/4 guy they had in for a visit.

8.2 ypc

NCAA record

He’s also the fastest RB in the group. Dudes pretty damn good.  Could have broken 2,000 yards in a season but sat out the final game to be bowl game ready (I think).

To the OP, there’s really no real way to tell until the draft starts fling. Like someone else said, there could be a run. Or you may not see many real RBs go until the late 2nd to 4th

many here really like Miles Sanders from Penn State. The Pegula connection cannot be ignored imo. They had him in for a visit as well. He’s probably in their top 3 for backs.

Darrell Henderson from Memphis. As mentioned above. The kid is fast and has some serious skills.

David Montgomery Out if Iowa State. Big and solid. Has all the tools to be a solid RB in the league. Not super fast.

Elijah Holyfield out of Georgia. Evander’s kid. Could be something special. Big. Fast. Physical.any here don’t believe he will even be drafted but he will. Probably round 3-5.

LJ Scott from Michigan State. My favorite sleeper pick. This kid has everything. Speed. Size. The ability to be a really good RB in this league. Similar with Holyfield, people here will say he won’t even be drafted. Had an injury his last year and apparently he’s less than ideal as far as off the field. But on the field this kid can get it all done. Most like after round 5 because of his issues. Worth a shot imo.

A few others. Myles Gaskin. Bryce Love. Dexter Williams. Devin Singletary. Justice Hill.

And my deep, deep, deep sleeper...

Jacques Patrick out of Florida State. 6’3”, 232lbs. 4.58 40 yard dash. This kid reminds me of Derrick Henry. Big beefy kid with good movement. Would be a monster imo. Could be had in the 6th or later most likely.

They can literally not draft anyone and grab a UDFA, easiest position to get production from. Not to mention unless there’s preseason injuries no rookie is seeing the field for a long time anyways with shady and gore. Running backs are a dime a dozen if they are running behind a good line. Keep in mind they may like Murphy some, Yeldon came in for a visit, and there will likely be lots of cut running backs later too. It is not a draft priority just a luxury pick if they choose to try a flier on someone

Will he drop to the 4th?

I don’t see RB in their plans beforehand..

Shady has 1 year, Gore has 1 year. Josh knows the system, knows Daboll, 3rd Down proficient, Can catch, great route runner. Always healthy no wear and tear.

I like the look of other RBs that will be available Day 3 ... I just think they will move in other directions Days 1-2...TE, DE,DL,WR, OT all possibilities.. even CB could be a Day 2 possibility..
