Looking at just his sack count is as vapid as purely looking at Josh Allen's completion %.

Hughes has been among the league leaders in pressures and PFF rankings the past few years and has been invaluable to this team.  Replacing his value and production wont be easy and having him gone without a comparable disruptive player as he would be disastrous for this defense.  Which is why they need to get another good pass pressure specialist ASAP.

I read Biscuit’s post and immediately thought the same thing. Hughes is a dominant player.

wow. Big pay day. Wonder if Hugh's market will be around the same when he's up for a new deal.

How many times did you have to wipe away the tears from laughing so hard while typing this??

Lawrence is 26 (almost 27)

Hughes will be 31 when this season starts, and 32 soon after signing his next contract.

That's a huge difference.

5 years (4 years and 8 months of your want to be exact)

Plus, you know, Hughes isn't as good as Lawrence.

Hughes is a good player, but he's not elite.

No. He isn't. He's a nice, solid player.

He is not dominant.

Its 2/3 the cost of a qb for perspective. That’s not crazy from years past is it?

The Cowboys are screwed financially imo. I don't see how they will be able to afford all of these guys, but stranger things have happened.

Better win it all this year then!! ??

Lawrence is getting $21M a year with a 5 Year contract with over 65m guaranteed.

If Hughes has another good year he will get around a 3 year 44M with around 29m guaranteed.

Hes worth around 25-30% less than Lawrence.  Doesnt get as many sacks but is better against the run and gets more pressures than Lawrence.
