I think this pushes Hughes up to around $14-$16M a year.    I was hoping we'd get him between $12M-$14M.   I don't think that is likely any longer.

I think we worry too much about contracts. Premiere players will get paid and the deals they get are going to increase every year as long as the league is raking in the dough.

 

The smart GM's are right near the cap every year and just wiggle resources around.

The DRAFT gets more important every year!!!

 

Nail the draft, because you can’t afford many of those contracts.

I'm telling you.. front loading contacts is going to be the new norm in the NFL.  Teams want flexibility, and front loading is the best way to be that. Teams get a steal if the player is good, and can cut players without much penalty if they don't preform. Bill's are in prime position for this next year. Give Clowney $40M year 1on a 6year $120M deal. Then it's only 16M per year and you can cut him after year 2 without any deal cap money.
