Just build a dome like Lucas Oil stadium in Orchard Park so people can still jump through tables before a game.  People (especially older people) will pay higher ticket prices if they know they won't freeze.  I get the football was meant to be played outside sentiment, but you can have an immense home field advantage with the increase in crowd noise you get from a dome.

another reason to hate a dome.....

Folks just don’t realize, the most problematic part of renovating the current stadium is widening the concourses and adding more restrooms, which simpy cannot be done without tearing down the perimeter walls.  You cannot expand the concourses on the inside - you have to do it on the outside.

Once you accept that incontrovertible fact, you’ll understand that we’d essentially be building a new stadium, and it’d be quicker to just build a new one downtown.

.

If this is the case why not build outside the perimeter walls? Put the restrooms and the food/drink areas at or above ground level surrounding the stadium perimeter walls. You don't need field sight lines from the bathrooms. Concession workers and space do not require game site lines. And outside the perimeter walls you don't have to worry about any added structures affecting existing field site lines. If you absolutely need to be able to eat and watch the game in a concession area, that is what video screens are for. Or create a special concession seating area within the perimeter walls with site lines and remove some regular seating. Just charge enough for the privilege of using this premium concession area to increase owner profits over what they would get from the old seating. Problem fixed without having to spend over a billion on an unneeded new taxpayer funded stadium.

We should hate having a dome if it leads to us having louder home games?

We don't sell out all our games. In fact in 2018 we were 28th in percentage of capacity.

I may be missing something, but how do nine teams have over 100 percent? How do the Chargers fit 121.4% into their stadium.
(Note: The Rams are 31st in the league while the Chargers are 1st.)

I know, weird. I have to assume that's standing room attendance. Or maybe many buildings under-report their actual capacity?

Yes, anyone can be loud indoors....

I'm confused by that also. Here's a quote from USA Today about it:

Quote

The Bills finished the 2018 season 6-10 overall and most expected that step back. That step back caused 2.7 percent drop in attendance at New Era Field this year as well.

According to Pro Football Reference via the Buffalo News, Buffalo’s total attendance this season stood at 519,695, averaging 64,962 per game, which was 21st best in the NFL. Last season’s 9-7 playoff drought-breaking run saw 534,200 pass through the gates of New Era Field.

While a passionate fan base, one can’t blame Bills Mafia for perhaps tapping out a bit at the end of the season, too. Buffalo played three of their final four games at home this season.

Fact: it is cold in December.

I'd love to see the attendance on a game-by-game basis.

So Bills games would be louder. That's bad?

I've always thought dome teams have an unfair advantage with crowd noise....that's all

I agree - they definitely do. I just thought you were just saying that louder crowd noise is a reason we should not have a dome.

To me, it's one of the few reasons I'd be open to us having one.

yeah, just a personal thing...always hated when announcers would make mention on how loud the crowd is....I would yell at TV saying....they're indoors!!...I'm just getting old

They are in the process of controlling everything in downtown Buffalo. The Arena. Hotels. Bars. Restaurants. Breweries. The list goes on and on.

They manage an arena, have a connecting hotel/hockey rink/restaurant, and own the building next door where Labatt is a tenant.

That equates to "in the process of controlling EVERYTHING downtown" ?   LOL LOL LOL

I guess you weren't aware that there are at least 10-15 other hotels downtown and dozens of restaurants/bars in the downtown area.  Is Pegula in the process of buying those all up?  Is he taking over the downtown casino from the Seneca's while he is at it?

I think maybe you need to turn the Pegula hype down a couple of notches.

That being said, IMO the new stadium will go downtown, and I'm sure there will be a couple of Pegula owned properties nearby.

Your 'fun' is why I can't eat Chik-fil-a 6 days a week at the airport though :(

Move down here to the A...there's one on every street corner and my goodness but they make the best chicken sammie in the world, jmho!! Plus their service (doors open to all customers, isn't that inclusive enough?) is top notch for a fast food joint. I mean, when was the last time your local burger king put out fresh cut flowers on your table?

In the meantime, the Buffalo citizens will be made to care by know it all politicians, and better never frequent one, right?

You apparently didn’t understand my story about the speakeasy above the one Brewery that apparently nobody knew Pegula had ties to. He’s got a lot more in place down there than you know about.
