You know what was awesome about Barack Obama? He gave Donald Trump JUST the tool to destroy the people who tried to remove him from office: The IRS.

I suggest he use it.

I agree that Obama handed Trump a powerful weapon but cannot disagree more on how to wield it

As the target of a weaponized bureaucracy Trump is well positioned to issue an Executive Order requiring increased oversight of FISA warrants and surveillance on American citizens

Trump should fix the problem rather than follow the precedent of his failed predecessor

How gracious.

Also, foolish. Because don't think for a minute the opposition won't abuse whatever power they have to try and continue their resistance.

Your shortsightedness cannot be improved upon.

I sincerely hope not.

Weaponizing the IRS against "political enemies" (ie, everyday people; tea party, conservative groups, etc) should not be done. I thought it was one of the scummier things the Obama Administration did, and that administration did a whole lot of horrible things.

The ROT at the center of the unelected, unaccountable bureaucracy must at ANY cost be removed. By any means necessary. These people (Strzock, Comey, et al) attempted to resist the will of the people and cannot be allowed to continue in government service. Ever. Whatever it takes, they must both be removed and rendered incapable of being a threat to our Republic.

You are just proposing replacing one dictator with another. We need to do the hard work of sticking to our laws to correct the malfeasance that has happened. You actually want to fight fire with more fire. You would be a fine warrior during war but would insure that we never had peace.

You're suggesting that the rot can be removed by normalizing extra-Constititional behaviors, and enshrining an absolute dictatorship.

This is stupid and incredibly short sighted, Joe.

If you want to solve the problem you cannot begin by exacerbating it.

If you want the rule of law to prevail you cannot begin by breaking the law.

Maybe if we all hold hands and work together, it'll get better.

Name all of the dictatorships in the world under which the people live well, and are protected from gross overreaches of their government.

Maybe, but I suggest we just follow our laws and see what happens.

You'll notice that I responded in a civil manner rather than telling you to go ***** yourself. Which response makes you more amiable to solving the problem at hand?

Well, I can think of at least one place where government is more authoritarian than ours and the people live fairly well because of it: Singapore.

That's pretty much it, though.

And why is that, Joe?  Why don't people enjoy protections from government overreach and generally live well under dictatorships?

Singapore?  You're going to use an anomalous city state as the example to set for a vast multi-racial and multi-cultural country?   That's as dumb as morons using Denmark as the shining example of socialism.

Because they're dictatorships? You know, you speak awfully highly of the rule of law. And you might be surprised to know that in theory, I agree with you. In a perfect world, where the playing field is actually level, the rule of law is a wonderful thing. I just think you're fooling yourself if you think there aren't hideous double-standards in our current system that render a complete tear-down necessary.

How about rather than that, we let Huber & the others do their job and see how it all plays out?  A lot of what was done to set up then candidate Trump (& candidate Sanders & others) was already illegal.  Let the process work.

And while that's going on, figure out what adjustments need to be made to the laws (if any).

Huber has already been working on this for over 1 year.  Don't start skirting the law right when things are starting to look up.  Would make the good guys just as bad as the bad guys.

And the last 2 years would all be for naught.  Democracy would be dead.
