Hebert19 Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Make a more team friendly deal and add a year that spreads out the cap hit? Seems like a non shady thing to do but may be his best chance to get traded or doesnt get cut? Thoughts?

Now, could they ask him to take a cut? Maybe.

Seems like a non shady thing to do but may be his best chance to get traded or doesnt get cut? Thoughts? Why? 1 year left on his contract and the team has plenty of cap space. Literally makes zero sense as to why the Bills would want to do this. Have you been playing Madden to much again? Edited March 18, 2019 by matter2003 6 2
billsfan_34 Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Na- Shady has been a good soldier and I think the Bills believe he will have a bounce back year behind what is perceived as an improved line. No reason to mess with chemistry and cause any issues- leave well enough alone at this point. 4
JM57 Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 With one year left on the deal it makes absolutely zero sense for the team or the player. They're parting ways after this season. There's no need to stretch it out 3 1

With guards that can now pull and a mobile center look for screen plays etc which Shady will be just fine, even if he lost 1/2 a step.
dpberr Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 I think McCoy's status in Buffalo as straightforward as both team and player have communicated. The FO wants him to be a member of the team. He wants to be on this team.
HuSeYiN_NYC Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 McDermott already told us the fans, the media and Shady himself that Shady is a big part of Mcdermotts' plan for the Bills succeeding so, he will NOT be traded. Also, idk if you heard Frank Gore interview when Gore said, Shady basically recruited him to sign with the Bills. Shady not going to another team and I personally am excited to see what the run game will look like this year.

I don't think it's necessary given the current cap room and the amount projected for next year.
hemma Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Since we're broke, I'd probably first try to squeeze another $300 or $350 off of Richie Incognito. 1
badassgixxer05 Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 He had 160 carries last year. Old man Shady should be well rested and ready to explode out of the gates this year. No excuses as we went and got him some Fat boys. I believe he will have a good year and many on here will be talking about extending him by end of first quarter of season. Gore is going to fill in on short yardage and shady rest downs. Bills will be top 5 in rushing again. Wishful thinking right!? ?
Mat68 Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 If Buffalo trades for a premier player and signs them to a massive deal. If that doesnt happen, Shady's deal helps them reach the minimum they have to spend this year.
TOboy Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Unless we're planning something else pretty big, there's no reason to go this route this year. 1. We have some cap room left. 2. Shady's deal expires at the end of this season, if he doesn't bounce back he's gone next year with no cap hit. 3. He's basically our only returning vet on offense, why stir the pot by asking him to restructure his deal?
Hebert19 Posted March 18, 2019 Author Posted March 18, 2019 I'm just thinking if we want to part ways with him this year his contract makes it hard to do anything but cut him and cutting him leaves us with dead cap this year that we might want to carry over. A more manageable contract may make him more appealing via trade.

Even spent the better part of a week sulking and saying that he would refuse to show up. Don't kid yourself. He's gonna be on the first thing smokin' out of Buffalo as soon as he gets the chance. Most likely back to Philly. That's where he "wants" to be.
