ProcessAccepted Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 He's better than EJ was and look how he's hung around. Bortles will end up on a bench somewhere. 1
oldmanfan Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 Anyone still think we should have brought Coughlin in as our football tzar? 1 1
MJS Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 Oh...I guess I just assumed that he had already been released... 1

I remember we interviewed or at least talked to him before the start of 2016. I can't fault him for turning down a panel of Terry, Rex, and Russ...

stuvian Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 still intrigued by him. i think the right coach could turn him into a Joe Flacco
BillsfaninSB Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 Can the Giants chuck Eli and get Bortles? I think it would be an upgrade. They can be a little more patient with the next QB if that is Haskins or someone in next years draft.

Some of them can even play football too. I think Bortles is going to end up like Blaine Gabbert. .He’ll be signed as a backup somewhere, then the starter will get hurt and he will play well enough that some team thinks he’s worth a reclamation project as a starter since he was drafted so high, then he’ll suck again, around and around we go.

In fairness to Bortles, he had higher highs than Gabbert ever did. He's up and down, but is there a QB out there who has done more against Belichickian defenses? Maybe Eli?

I get your point but I think all of us would be disheartened hanging our hat on him as our franchise QB. At least we have high hopes for JA. Plus, we had no idea the Jags would bomb in 2018. Everyone thought they could contend for the AFC again and Blake would stay put. Edited March 14, 2019 by BillsfaninSB
