VW82 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Hard to argue with stealing a member of that vaunted Chiefs Oline, but the number of missed games is troubling. Hope he can stay healthy for us.

We still need a right tackle, but if Teller and Long are starters, we are looking at a bench of Bodine, Boettger, Sirles. Obviously that is not ideal, but you need to have a backup who can snap and that should not be your starting guard, which is where I think Long winds up. Thanks, couldn't recall if he played G last season 1
Mango Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 This one is weird. I am pulled in both directions. First, hooray, upgraded the offensive line in a very major way. Second, wait at that price and his injury history, wtf wouldn’t we just keep Cordy Glenn. How are people excited for a guy with a worse injury history than our prior starting LT, but also say injury history was a good reason to get rid of our LT. 2

It's the PFF stuff. I don't love the way they grade linemen honestly. I think a lot of it is misleading and skewed. It's an interesting system, but it is flawed in some areas. I use the good old eye test, which is also flawed, but I trust myself more and I've thought Morse was better for a while.
FeelingOnYouboty Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 (edited) I really hope we can sign Daryl Williams and draft Chris Lindstrom now. EDIT: A core of Morse, Williams, Dawkins and Lindstrom is pretty good Edited March 12, 2019 by FeelingOnYouboty 1
Chicken Boo Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 He looks great, but the injury history is concerning.

They're an incredibly dirty team who gets away with that ***** all the time. Another reason to hate them. And Paradis missed 7 games last year, while that hit from Hightower to concuss Morse was as dirty as they come. I wouldn't be overly concerned with him being injury-prone. 3

He definitely looks for work. Even the freak play that caused a concussion was him reengaging a rusher from what I could tell. There have been some comments that he does not grade out as well with run blocking. I am just happy to see a guy who is not getting bull-rushed into his QB's lap, and when he is blocking in space on runs defenders are being pushed in the other direction. Been a while since I've seen that level of play....I'll take it. 1

I guess their mindset was that moving Glenn had more to do with getting a QB than it did with his own play? That’s the only thing I can come up with. It’s the “nothing matters til you get a QB” theory. I’m thrilled about Morse though. 2

Ideal line for me would be LT Dawkins LG Long/Teller C Morse RG Lindstrom RT Williams Would be a major improvement in both pass pro AND running game

Glenn vs Morse situations aren't really comparable. The Glenn trade allowed us to trade up for Josh Allen. Franchise QB trumps all else. Also, I think fans and Beane and co. felt fine about moving Glenn because Dawkins filled in for him that year and there was little to no drop off, at a much cheaper price. With Morse, center is barren here. He is worth the risk as one of the better centers in the NFL. At a position of massive need. I know that a lot of people are clinging to the "we should not have traded Cordy Glenn." But do they like having Josh Allen? If the answer is yes, then they have to move on. Not really going to get into it, because I am biased. I didn't agree with trading Glenn at the time. All I will say is, a year or two later, we are unsure if Dawkins is best suited for LT, or is a long term solution at the position. Adding: Point was, being a Bills fan can be weird. Rationilizing getting rid of an OL because of injury-Hooray! Rationalize signing a similarly priced OL with injury history-Hooray! Edited March 12, 2019 by Mango 1
