whatdrought Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 (edited) He's a top 5 off ball backer in the NFL isn't he? Definitely unexpected that he would hit the open market. Are they in trouble financially? Edited March 4, 2019 by whatdrought 1
DCOrange Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Really interesting to see him being unrestricted but I don’t at all expect Buffalo to pursue him. Could their rival Steelers entice him to fill one of their biggest needs though? 1
BillsfanAZ Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 I am surprised by this....wonder if an extension is already in the works so no need for the tag. Would love to see the Bills grab him but I doubt it. 1
Happy Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Doubt he fits McD's defensive scheme. The Ravens are a base 3-4.

Are they in trouble financially? Not really, but I think it boils down to who they want to keep. Do you keep your trench guys, Michael Pierce, Za'Darius Smith, Suggs or do you keep the off the ball linebacker who will be asking for a contract to cover all of what those guys will be getting? They drafted Kenny Young last year and Peanut Onswar proved he can play in the league. If anything I'd probably let him walk too and if I need to draft a rookie backer in rd 2-4 after adding a WR in rd 1.
QCity Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 You can't really tag an ILB. They get lumped together with the expensive OLB pass rushers when it comes to calculating the tag amount. They would wind up paying him like over $15M a year. 3

Virgil Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 I feel like there’s a lot of quality talent out there, but all at positions we’ve recently filled.
without a drought Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 They only have $18.5 mil in cap space and tagging him would have used over $15 mil of it. 1

H2o Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 I bet he lands with the Jets. They have a ton of cash to throw around and that's what they're gonna do.

I think he is very good, but he is a thumper middle linebacker and the value of those guys in the modern day NFL is low. If you are close to the cap with veteran team it isn't a position that you spend the $$s in. I think it speaks to the positional value rather than his ability. If you want to get paid as a modern MLB in the NFL you better be a sideline to sideline guy. Mosely is very good at what he does but what he does is not something you pay big bucks for. 1
