More over Ben-by-gazi! Here comes real oversight and a serious look for criminal activity

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/02/25/trump-money-deutsche-bank-1204497

House Democrats are planning to cross one of President Donald Trump’s red lines: investigating his personal finances.

The German bank, which has been under scrutiny for its role in Russian money laundering, lent Trump hundreds of millions of dollars over the years for his property development ventures.

The House Financial Services and Intelligence Committees have been staffing up for their probes into the bank and Trump's Russia ties. Democrats on the panels say that with Deutsche Bank they are willing to pursue a key area that Mueller may have avoided — crossing what Trump sees as a "red line" into his personal finances.

“There's a heightened need to look into anything that could compromise the president or the country, particularly if it's not being investigated elsewhere," House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) told POLITICO. "I don't know that to be the case but I just haven't seen any external signs that that's happening."

Democrats won't be confined by boundaries set by the president as they ramp up their probes, so any perceived omissions by Mueller will be prime targets for House committees.

i'm thinking the way karma is biting therm in the ass rather quickly these days, investigations might start to look into how these congressional critters became millionaires. that is probably the real investigation that needs to be conducted.

The House has no oversight abilities or power.

The Senate Judiciary does, and that's where the real investigation and power is located. Schiff's committee is only for PR.

A lawyer for the Trump Organization has asked the House Judiciary Committee to cease any investigations related to it, claiming that the panel’s work has been tainted by its hiring of an outside lawyer whose firm has represented Trump’s company.

In a letter Monday to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), Trump Organization lawyer Alan S. Futerfas objected to the committee’s hiring of Berry H. Berke on the grounds that his law firm, Kramer Levin, has represented the Trump Organization on an array of issues.

“This state of affairs violates recognized ethical obligations and irreparably taints the Committee’s work,” Futerfas wrote, adding that it “requires that the Committee cease and desist from any and all activities that are adverse to the Company.”

Futerfas raised similar concerns in a letter last week to House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.), saying that his panel works closely with Nadler’s committee.

In a statement, Kramer Levin called the Trump Organization’s letter to Nadler “baseless” and said Berke’s consulting work for the Judiciary Committee “complies fully with all applicable ethical rules, does not pose any conflicts of interest and respects any obligations the firm may have.”

Keep telling yourself that!

And PR for things they expose about Trump's criminality is great!

Cohen's testimony tomorrow is guaranteed to keep the reality show TV element of Trump's presidency alive. Cohen's a liar's liar--it will be interesting to see how much he can support.

 Will be interesting indeed.

Sort of how the right focuses on racial antagonism to further their agenda of helping the wealthy get more wealthy

"Sitting here today, it seems unbelievable that I was so mesmerized by Donald Trump that I was willing to do things for him that I knew were absolutely wrong.

For that reason, I have come here to apologize to my family, to the government, and to the American people."

He should not be alone in this!
